Almost daily skirmishes are reported between the Joint patrols of Marines and Guards, and the rebei followers of Sandlno and Pals-ado. Aided by planes, the Marines ar sending- out patrols dally to obtain definite, news ronoernlna; the two missing Amarlean aviators believed to have been shot down a month ago by rebels. These patrols, however, have beet meeting strong forces of rebels who have fought the Americans doggedly. Only after they suffer heavy losses, according to word reaching Managua, do the rebels retire. Although It waa at first reported that the rebels numbered only a handful, latest estimates Indicate that about 1.000 armed men are operating under several rebel leaders.

Handlno has lost his prestige as a powerful rebel leader because of his recent defeat at Ocatal. Owing to the rugged nature of the northern district In which the rebel, have entrenched themselves, the task of clearing the country has been extremely difficult. The marines bellev, however, that the arrival of tha dry season and addition of Nlcaraguan guards they will be able to clear the district In a short time. More bombing and transportation planes are expected. The American aviators have rot been heard from since they were reported shot down.

According to one unconfirmed report they had taken The Keystone duo and the Ballart-eers, a string ensemble, will be heard in a Joint program again tonight, when a half hour of muslo is broadcast by the National Broadcasting Co. through WJZ, New Tork, at 10 o'clock. Darl Bethmann, baritone, and Steele Jamison, tenor, will open the program with a duet. "Sleepy Hollow Tune," after which Mr. Jamison will sing "Needing You" as a solo.

Other vocal numbers will be "Wind and "Sunshine of Your Smile." The Balladeers, who will accompany the singers In their solos and duets, will tie heard alone In Kriml'a "IjTowora of I-ove."
