27, 2006, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. She was born Florida M. Spicer Joseph E. Carroll James Mopps the son of Ly-curgus and Elizabeth Carroll. He attended Indianapolis Public School 47 and graduated from Harold "Everett" Mopps and Mildred "Marie" (Davis) Mopps.

Jim graduated from Richmond Senior High School in dent of Dublin, he had moved to Science Hill, Ky, following the death of his wife, Grace J. Jones May, on Oct. 9, 2003. They were married in Connersville, on June 29, 1963. A son of the late James Henry May Sr.

and Susan Kay Beck-man May, James was born in Liberty, on Oct. 19, 1911. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a disabled American veteran and a lifetime member of the DAV. Jimmy retired from the Gaar's Nursery in Cambridge City, where he worked as mechanic and maintenance repairman.

He enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till time of services at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec.

1, 2006, at the Marshall Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. Rev. James Tilton will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. 112906-34785161-182 Traevie'Antae Bennett Traevie'Antae Bennett, infant son of Courtney Hurst of Warren Central High School in 1931.

He also attended Indiana Central College and Indiana University, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. He married Margaret C. Laughner on Feb. 14, 1941, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1998.

Mr. Carroll was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as a medical technician at the base hospital at Camp Ruston, La. While at Camp Ruston, he assisted with physical examinations for the crew of the captured German submarine U-505, which is now on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

From 1946 to 1947, he worked for the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson, and for General Motors Acceptance Corp. (GMAC) in Richmond, Ind. From 1947 to 1967, Mr. Carroll was vice president and general manag Fern M. Sterling CONNERSVILLE, Ind.

Fern M. Sterling, 75, of Connersville, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006. Born June 4, 1931, in Connersville to Charles and Ida Miller Calonge, she retired from Visteoninl994. Survivors include children, Donald Sterling, Kathryn Pennington, Diana Sterling, Donna Sterling and Kim Johnson; sisters, Pearl Boreham, Marie Jackson and Bonnie Carpenter; brother, Robert Calonge.

-Shirley A. Matthew Garo, 55, of Connersville, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel. She was born Jan.

31, 1951, in Batesville to Harold and Dixie Roberts Miller. Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Brooks, Bethany Durham, Amanda Stevens and Tiffany Matthew; mother; and sisters, Debbie Feller and Donna Hohman. Her husband, Robert Matthew, is deceased. Death in the News Bebe Moore Campbell 'LOS ANGELES (AP) Bebe Moore Campbell, who penned several best-sellers including "Brothers and Sisters" and "What You Owe Me" as well as articles for The New York Times and The Washington Post, died Monday. She was 56. Campbell died at home from complications with brain cancer, said publicist Linda Wharton Boyd. She was diagnosed with the disease in February.

Her books, most of which were fiction based on real-life stories, touched on racial and social divides while including the perspective of many ethnic groups. One of her first novels, "Your Blues Ain't Like Mine," was published in 1992 and spanned a 40-year period dealing with prejudice in the United States. The book earned her an NAACP Image Award for literature. She followed the book with "Brothers and Sisters," which focused on race relations in the corporate world after the 1992 Los Angeles riot. Among her other novels were "Singing in the Comeback Choir," and "72 Hour Hold." Today American Idol rejected singer to perform: 7 p.m.

She came to Indiana with her family as a child and lived all of her adult life in Richmond, graduating form Richmond High School with the class of 1947. On Sept. 7, 1947, she was married to Wilson A. Spicer. Mr.

Spicer died July 3, 1982. She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Connersville. She loved gardening, especially her flowers, and attending sporting events. She also loved to cook. Survivors include four children, Nathan Spicer and wife Lori of Fort Wayne, Joe Spicer and wife Luann of Richmond, Judy Spicer of Richmond and Gene Spicer and wife Andrea of Connersville; 11 grandchildren, Jared, Jennifer, Janell, Randy, Jason, Natasha and Kerri Spicer, Toni Spicer-Jamison, Randy Gi-anfagna, Amy Martz and Marc Gianfagna; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Williams of Indianapolis and Rose Robinson of Richmond; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Spicer; four sisters, Cecil Garrard-Nolan, Lucy Potter, Edna Henson and Georgia Collier; six brothers, Dan, Clarence, Alex, Robert, Maryland (Jack) and Willis Pennington. He was born in 1952 where he was on the swimming team and received many medals. He entered the U.S. Navy soon after graduation, serving 20 years and retired as a yeoman chief petty officer. He served aboard many ships on both coasts. He served in Navy recruiting duty in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in New York City.

He served in the U.S. Navy Intelligence Service for four years in Yokosuka, Japan, and one year in Vietnam. He received many commendations including six medals. Married to Barbara Arliene Rinehart in Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 28, 1957, and sealed for time and eternity in August 1998.

Along with his wife Barbara, he owned and operated Premium Carpet and Upholstering Cleaning for 18 years. He retired in 1999 due to illness. He was an avid fisherman all his life. He fished for the sheer joy of it. Jim had a tremendous sense of humor and was well liked by all.

He loved to play games including cards, chess and acey ducey. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Kathleen Brown of Richmond and Pamela and husband Jamie Spenner of Las Vegas; and son, Stacy and wife Joyce of Richmond. He is also survived by grandchildren, William, Victoria and Meghan Brown, Travis, Renee, Josiah and Morgan Spenner and Allison and Madeline Mopps. Grandson Robert Thomas is deceased.

He has three great-grandchildren with two more expected. Funeral service for James W. Mopps will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3333 Backmeyer Road, Richmond, Ind.

Mr. Carroll was also extremely active in his community of Cambridge City, as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, of Lodge and American Legion Post 169. He was an avid golfer who was a charter member of Hartley Hills Country Club in Hagerstown, and a member of the Elks Country Club in Richmond, Ind. Mr. Carroll was a lifelong fan of all sports, but he had a special place in his heart for baseball, especially his beloved Chicago Cubs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Forrest, Cecil and Harold; and his daughter, Barbara S. Williams. Survivors include his son, Joseph S. (Katie) Carroll of New Palestine, a sister, Alline Harvey of Napa, a son-in-law, Stewart Williams of Lowell, two sisters-in-law, Ruth Carroll of Brooksville, and Polly Carroll of Monroe, three grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m.
