Lawn Speedway again Sunday night, Aug. 19, and Vic Hellis, Muncie, is wondering what he can do for an encore. The hard-driving Muncie campaigner finished with his car blazing Sunday night in winning the 25-lap saper-six feature at the New Castle track. The fire started when he was on the backstretch of the final lap.

Point leader Bob Fields, Willow Branch, was unable to compete in the super-six feature because a heat-race collision that sidelined his racer. In the super-six feature Hellis hooked up in a hard battle with J. Lines, Indianapolis, passing Lines to! take the lead after 15 laps. Lines will be back Sunday night, as will Rocky Tharp, Muncie, and Herb Rose, Anderson, who were second and third behind Hellis. Fields won the flvine stocks feature.

Andujar drove in two runs with a second-inning inside-the park home run and pitched a four-hitter to carry the Houston Astros to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Expos. Andujar, 12-8, struck out one and walked one in breaking a personal three-game losing streak by pitching his eighth complete game. It marked the first time in his four-year major-leape career he has won as many as 12 games in a season.

Art Howe singled with one out in the second inning to start the Astros' rally. After Expos' starter and loser Bill Lee, 10-10, struck out Alan Ashby, Andujar lined his first career home run over the head of center fielder Andre Dawson and raced around the bases to score without a play at the plate. The hot-hitting Lynn drove in six runs and led a 19-hit attack with a pair of homers and a double Tuesday night to help Dennis Eckersley become the first 16-game winner in the American League and spark the Boston Red Sox to a 12-1 rout of the Minnesota Twins. The Red Sox began their assault in the first inning when Lynn, Carlton Fisk and Carl Yastrzemski belted solo homers off loser Pete Redfern, 6-2.

Lynn drove in two more runs in the second with a double and belted a three-run homer, his 34th, in the fourth. (UPI) -John W. Bunn, who helped establish the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, has died at the age of 80 in Newbury Park, Calif. Bunn, who died late Monday night, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1964 after serving as director of athletics and as basketball coach at Springfield College from 1946 to 1956, heading teams which had a 135-114 record. He also served as national interpreter and basketball rules editor for the Hall of Fame lor 10 years. A native of Wellston, Ohio, Bunn was a graduate of the University of Kansas, where he worked with James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, and received letters for participation in baseball, football, and Practice Scheduled DUNKIRK First football practice at West Jay Junior High will be Monday at 9 a.m.

NBC Officer to Olympics LOS ANGELES (UPI) Hank Rieger, an NBC network vice president and a former UPI news executive, has been named director of communications for the 1984 summer Olympics in Los Angeles, it was announced Tuesday. Peter Ueberroth, president and manag ng director of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, said Rieger will join the staff on a full-time basis in October. He will have responsibility for all media planning and service arrangements, credentialling, promotion and publications for the Games. "We are pleased to have Hank Rieger join the committee to head up our entire communications operation," Ueberroth said.

"Rieger is highly regarded in the field of communications and public relations, having extensive experience as a newsman, news executive and a public and corporate relations professional." Rieger, who workedon the Los Angeles bid to secure 1984 Games, organized and supervised UPI coverage for the 1960 winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, and the 1960 summer Olympics in Rome. His career at UPI included work as a reporter and bureau chief in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix, and as news editor at UPI headquarters in New York. He has been with NBC for nearly 15 years, serving first as vice president for press and publicity and for the last three years as vice president of corporate information. Rieger is currently serving his second term as president of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
