Monday, May 2, 1960 McCOMB. Barnett Pleads for Time to Work JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Gov.O- Ross Barnett, whose office has been crowded continually with visitors and job seekers, requested today the he be permitted to concentrate on the closing days of the Legislature without interruption. "With the Legislature planning to end its work this week," he said in a prepared statement, "it will be extremely busy considering last minute proposals. "That means I must concentrate all my efforts on legislative matters in these waning days, and for that reason, I am asking my friends to co-operate with me in that respect." After the crush of legislative matters, in a few weeks, Barnett said, "I will have more time to devote to our friends, and will then be able to continue my policy of seeing everyone who calls on me." Job seekers and other visitors have taken up so much of the governor's time he's had to work past 8 p.m.

Gill Dies at 44 Former Resident Interred Here Truck Driver Dies Passing Through Area A 48-year-old Ohio truck driver apparently suffered a heart attack at 3:45 p. m. Saturday while sitting at the counter of the Sunset Restaurant. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a McComb hospital. He was identified by papers in his pocket as James Wilber Chipwood, Lorraine, Ohio.

Chipwood was driving a truck for Dealers Transport Co. Members of the coroner's jury, which ruled death was by natural causes were Charles Herring, acting coroner; Sheriff Clyde Simmons, Buddy Miller, Eddie Smith, L. A. Simmons, George Guy, John Anders and Joe Kennedy. McDaniel Rites Held at East Fork Graveside services for Henry Talmage McDaniel, 72, retired machinist who died Wednesday in Port Arthur, were held at 2 p.

Maurice Foreman, McComb, was arrested fo: driving without license. He was paroled. 11:55 p. m. Kenyon Lee man, Bogue Chitto, was arrested for driving car while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and driving without license.

He was lodged in jail. May 1 2:15 p. m. Frank Martir, McComb, was driving a car in reckless manner, and driving while license is revoked. He was arrested and paroled.

3:45 p. m. Richard S. Barthalow, Dallas, was charged with driving car in reckless manner on South Broadway. He was paroled on $17.50 cash bond.

8:25 p. m. Mary Jones, McComb, was arrested for driving car without a license. The subject was released on $11.50 cash bond. Burglars Teach Safe Cracking ST.

PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) A weekend workshop in cracking safes was held by burglars who broke into the Ballam Safe Co. Besides burning and peeling off safe doors, apparently for practice, the thieves tinkered with safe mechanisms and lugged off every item of safe-cutting equipment they could find--plus two safes.
