Martha's kidnap claim supported WASHINGTON (UPI) - Martha Milchcll was riglil when she claimed in 1972 siic had been "kidnaped" and manhandled by her husband's agenls, according (o convicled Watcrgale conspirator James McC'ord, who was once her bodyguard. As for Mitchell, McCord said, "I think he was fond of her to a degree. But I don'l think the man ever leveled with her. "I think that Martha was ignorant of most of his activities. Watergate break-in was discovered in June, 1972, she was held "political prisoner" at the Newporter Inn at Newport Beach, Calif. She said she had been given injections and held in her room against her will, and McCord told UPI: "They kept her locked up and she began to be afraid tor her life." McCord said llaldcman was involved in "a greal effort in the White House to discredit Martha Mitchell. They were extremely jealous of her and feared her because she was very candid ... and because she was in so much demand" for appearances at Republican rallies.
