Original Script Written by Horace Greeiey in 1871 6REELEY, COLORADO Mill ANDTHE GREELEY REPUBLICAN Weekly Tribune Established 1870 TIKI., March 9,1976 Government section C E N T E N N I A L We/if County courthouse - a 60-year-oW 'extravagance' When the Weld County Courthouse first opened in 1917, a reporter for UK Tribune loured the building and wrote "But if the courthouse had been manned out before the eyes of the taxpayers of the county before it was built, the extravagance, the unnecessary luxury of it all -- the architect's fees alone will be $30,000 -- the project would not lave gotten by without a riot. As it is, Weld County's new courthouse will ever stand as a magnificent, if extravagant, monument to the mart prosperous period the country hat ever known..." The building it indeed impressive, as the ornamental decorations of Ihe interior indicate. Three district court employee look down from the third floor.
