(AP) Mayor Al Perenyi submitted his resignation to the city council Friday, saying he was "being pressured to quit" by the LongmontDailyTimes-Call. The newspaper has carried a series of stories about a new business partnership involving the mayor, the city manager and one of the area's major real estate developers. The Times-Call also printed the report of an attorney hired by the city council that said there has been no conflict of interest between the mayor's job and his new business associ- ation, but that the potential for conflict existed. "Basically, I agree with the mayor that the pressure of these recent disclosures un- doubtably caused him great concern," said Edward Lehman, editor and publisher of the Times-Call. "We still believe he is a fine .person and he did the best thing in resigning," said Leh- m'an. "It is too bad, but he sowed the seeds several months ago and it is an unhappy harvest for all." Perenyi said his resignation would be effective June 15. Several weeks ago, Perenyi annouced that he was joining City Manager Charles Klarich and developer Ken Pratt in forming Longco and Co. The firm manufactures a connecting piece between fire hydrants and fire hose and also does industrail painting. In his letter of resignation to the city council, Perenyi said he was doing a good job as major and "...the only reason 1 am resigning is the unbelievable pressure put on me by the Times-Call and the detrimental effects it is having on my personal and busines? life." "Can Mr. Snyder come out and wrestle with Marmaduke?" City boards appointments confirmed Meeting in executive session, , $18,925. Caulking and Sealants: !
