Sunday. Celebrant of the mass will be the Rev. James Logan, school chaplain. The liturgy, prepared by a committee of the senior class under the direction of Sister Sandra Setterlund, will feature the Pacelli Singers and a homily by salutorian Deborah Helminski. (Steve Parker photo) Sophomores stage play for children the SPASH auditorium for elementary students in the district. Actors have been memorizing lines and blocking, while stage crews complete such constructions as a cow, a rope ladder, the giant's legs, a chicken, and scenery consisting of Jack's cottage and a village street. For the past few weeks the three sophomore stagecraft classes under the direction of Mrs. Shirley Mindok and Mrs. Pauline Phillips have been preparing a production of "Jack and the Giant," a play based on the fairy tale, "Jack and the Beanstalk." The play will be presented at three different times Tuesday in Mrs.

Mindok said, "Although this is the first time a project of such proportion has been undertaken, considering the time element, the students are eager for a responsive audience. If it proves successful, despite scheduling problems, future productions will be attempted. In any case, it has been a learning experience for teachers and students alike." Committee plans summer dances The Social Affairs Committee at Pacelli currently is planning a summer dance program. The dances, sponsored by the Pacelli Student Council, will be held at the YMCA on June 19, July 10, July 24, August 7 and August 21. Two of the performing bands booked are Circus and Eden Stone.

An admission ranging from will be charged to those attending the dances, which are open to the public. Two receive academy citation By BERNIE LANDOWSKI Marge Laskowski and Cheryl Newton, juniors at Pacelli, have been awarded a citation for their participation in the Wisconsin Junior Academy. The Academy was organized to encourage high school students to participate in writing and fine arts programs. Marge entered several of her poems, and Cheryl a macrame art project. The judging of the projects was held in the beginning of April at SPASH.

Several hundred participants were entered from around the state. y-' a A i -1 on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the school auditorium. Featured speaker at the I graduation exercises will be former Pacelli instructor Brother Andrew Jacobsen, FSC, who presently is teaching at Beckman High School in Dyersville, Iowa. James Biermeier, superintendent of Stevens Point Catholic Schools, will be master of ceremonies.

The valedictory will be given by Norman Meshak and invocation and convocation prayers by the Rev. James Logan, school chaplain. The awarding of the diplomas to the 132 graduating members of the class of 1974 will be handled by John Klismet, president of the Stevens Point Area Catholic Board of Education, assisted by Brother Dominic Kennedy, FSC, Pacelli principal. In addition to diplomas, 16 students will receive special honors for their academic performance. To qualify for the honors, students must have been on the school's honor roll for all four years.

Other awards to be presented at the commencement ceremony are: Bishop's medal, Geralynn Slaske; Bausch Lomb Award for outstanding work in science, Norman Meshak; Good Citizenship Award of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Irene Przybylski; and Reader's Digest Award for Academic Performance, Norman Meshak. Among students who will' be recognized for awards presented earlier in the year are State of Wisconsin Honor Scholarship finalists Bonnie Kawlewski, Barbara Laszewski, Irene Przybylski and Debra Sievwright and thirteen National Honor Society" members. Eight students also will receive scholarships in addition to their diplomas. They are Roger Lange and Irene Przybylski, five-year scholarships to the College of Insurance, New York, N.Y., presented by Sentry Insurance; Deborah Klinkert, Stevens Point Junior Woman's Club Scholarship; Barbara Laszewski, American Legion Auxiliary scholarship; Patrick Reed, Lion's Club Scholarship; Judith Fischer, Pauline Jaeger Cosmetology Scholarship; Jerome Kitowski, St. Norbert Counselor available during summer Graduating seniors as well as other Pacelli students will be able to take advantage of the summer office hours of the school counselor, Jeff Meidam.

Monday hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. have been established to help students with whatever needs they might have. "Students too often cannot find essential advice and-or assistance from school personnel during the summer for such things as transcripts, applications, financial aid and the like," Meidam. said.

Members of the Pacelli Mother's Club, under the direction of Mrs. Ben Quella, will prepare and assist in serving the buffet-style meal. The breakfast is co-sponsored by the Pacelli Mothers' Club and the Pacelli Student Council.

Slightly over 400 people are expected to attend the Mass and breakfast. mortuary science, mountain backpacking, horseback riding, slide rule, quiltmaking and trips to Milwaukee. Students at SPASH receive awards By CINDE BOYDEN On Tuesday awards were given to SPASH forensics and Thespian members. Letters and certificates of commendation were presented to Thespians, and Kurt Busch received the Best Thespian award. Debate certificates were presented to students who had successfully participated in debate in the novice, junior varsity and varsity positions.

Connie Olson was named the most valuable novice debater; Elaine Rekowski, the most valuable junior varsity; Ken Farmer, the most valuable varsity; and Rick Cigel, the best speaker. Forensics awards were presented to students who received an A at district, but were unable to attend state competition because of the SPASH band trip to Georgia students who competed at state also received their awards. Thespian advisor is Harold J. Olson, forensics coaches are Miss Bonnie Dana, Mrs. Shirley Mindok, Randy Sus, Dennis Bonikowske, and the debate coach is Dennis Bonikowske.

College of Fond du Lac scholarship. "The Mirror" is published monthly and is printed by students in the SPASH printing department under the supervision of Willard Schlice.

As they end their high school careers, they must choose an occupation or make plans for further education. The High School Highlights staff conducted a poll to determine the future plans of Pacelli seniors, and careers mentioned ranged from game warden to computer maintenance, from gunsmithing to the priesthood. Of the 122 students responding, 66 of them (66.12 per cent will be going on to college or technical school. These students and the schools they will attend are: College of Insurance, New York, N.Y.: Irene Przybylski, Roger Lange.

Northeast Technical School, Green Bay: Pat Pavelski. rO, AUDREY HOULIHAN Student wins books in German contest Audrey Houlihan, a SPASH senior, has been awarded a certificate of merit and two German books, "Heidelberg" and "die Barocken Schloesser" for outstanding achievement a contest for Wisconsin high school students of German. Over 600 students participated in the 19th annual Deutscher Sprach-und Schulverein (DSSV) contest. Testing center for central Wisconsin was the UW-SP. Eleven SPASH students participated in February in the DSSV and another contest for high school students of German.

The American Association of Teachers of German contest is a national testing program. Three students, Ann Fritschel, Audrey Houlihan and Naomi Kamp-schoer received ranks of 90 percentile or better and have been included in the finalists category for the study-trip award, a summer trip to Germany. Representing SPASH Monday through Thursday at Green Lake will be Cindy Zarecki, FHA president, and a chorus member who will be entertaining at the convention, and Veronica Rhycter, FHA At graduation exercises Thursday, 477 SPASH seniors received diplomas.

Mirror editorial staff announced By LINDA LASZEWSKI Students at Pacelli recently completed the 1973-1974 school year Interim Days program.

A questionnaire was given to the students and teachers their opinions on Interim Days. The first question asked was, "Do you believe that the Interim program should continue in the future?" Out of approximately 500 students, 449 said yes while 33 said no. Out of 24 faculty members who answered the questionnaire, all 24 said it should continue. The second question was "Do you prefer the Interim Days or Interim Week concept?" Two-hundred ninety-two students preferred days while 172 chqse the week. Eighteen faculty members preferred days, 2 voted for weeks and 4 suggested other organization of Interim.

"Did you make use of Interim Days by fully participating in courses of interest to you?" Four-hundred twenty-eight said yes while 52 said no. The next question asked whether students participated in new experiences rather than familiar ones during Interim. Two-hundred eleven students said that all 4 days were a new experience while 249 said some days were and only 25 said no days were. Four hundred thirty students said they believe that "Interim is valuable from an educational standpoint" while 33 said no. Some of the courses students found entertaining as well as educational were self -hypnosis, The citizens advisory committees for the vocational education programs at SPASH recently completed their duties for the 1973-74 school year.

They helped with equipment selection, curriculum suggestions, student selection and coordination of cooperative training jobs.
