B4 Saturday, Aug. 1 1981 Palladium-Item, Richmond, Ind. XWT; T7 Liberty fire damage set at more than $100,000 7 4) I smoke cleared, about five minutes later, that the fire In the ceiling was discovered. Bias, who has set up a temporary office In a trailer on the site, said he has not heard any reports of smoke or fire damage to nearby buildings. No one was injured in the fire.

"Our tentative plans are to rebuild," he said, "but maybe not in the same spot." The restaurant at 207 W. Union St. was 24 years old. LIBERTY Damages "in excess of $100,000" are estimated by Wendell J. Bias, owner of J's Dairy Inn which was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.

Bias said the electrical fire started when "a breaker was pushed and an outlet that had gotten some water on it exploded and blew off the wall. The outlet was fed through a conduit in the ceiling and this started a fire between the suspended ceiling and the roof." Bias said it was not until after the yw 4-H fair queen now has two jobs ahead By Kyle Krelger Palladium-Item Staff Writer When the tears disappeared from Debra Van-Winkle's face Friday night after being named the 1981 Union County 4-H Fair queen, she had one small worry. The queen must reign over the events of the week-long fair. Miss VanWinkle expressed minor concern that might put her job at Lemon's Florist, 13 S. 10th St.

Richmond, in jeopardy. She started her job last week and she was concerned her boss might be upset about her missing work. This queen has nothing to worry about. Shop owner Jon Blackman was very pleased Miss VanWinkle, who works in office management, had been named queen. "I think it's great," Blackman said.

"I'm sure we can work around it." Miss VanWinkle, a 1981 graduate of Union County High School, was chosen from among 12 entrants in the contest. She is the daughter of Mrs. Cleda Hubbard and was sponsored by the Whitewater Valley Jaynes. This was the second time around for Miss VanWinkle. She was a contestant in the 1979 queen contest, but did not place.

She was one of five finalists picked by the three judges Friday night. The other finalists were Corinna Boggs, Lisa Nixon, Traci Stout and Tracy Anne Freeman. Miss Nixon was named Miss Personality, Miss Stout was the first runner-up and Miss Freeman was named second runner-up. AFTER THE FIVE finalists were named they were each asked to answer a question, which they chose at random. Miss VanWinkle was asked what she would cite as Union County's greatest resource if she was to compete in the state contest.

Her answer the county's youth and the support the county gives them apparently pleased the judges. The new queen's interests while in high school included the Swing Choir, National Honor Society, Math Club and playing the female lead in the school's 1981 production of "The Music Man." Miss VanWinkle, who graduated 16th in a class of 141 has very definite plans for her future. She said she wants to keep her job and take business management classes at Indiana University East.
