Mr. Koontz died Sunday in his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Henry County. Mr. Koontz retired in 1970 from Anchor Hocking after 19 years of service.

He also was a farmer in Randolph County for several years. He was a member of Anchor Hocking Sympathy Club. Surviving are his wife, Leatha Arnold Koontz; two daughters, Mrs. Delore Veenstra, San Rafael, and Mrs. Becky Fredriksson, Washington, D.C.; three stepdaughters, Mrs.

Shirley Coats, Winchester, Mrs. Carol Bailey, Ridgeville, Mrs. Sharon Littrell, Fort Myers, a sister, Amy Lee, Modoc: 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Berne. and Martha Smith. Lucinda Pettit, Lillian Pearson and Verena Peek, all of Fort Wayne: 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Former state GOP chief Edwin Beaman dies INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) Former Indiana state Republican chairman Edwin Beaman. 77, died Monday in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Webster City, Iowa, native grew up in Decatur, before moving to Princeton and opening a dairy in 1939. Beaman was elected to the Indiana State Senate in 1942 representing Pike and Gibson counties. Beaman later served as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue and worked for the Department of Commerce before being an assistant to Gov. Harold Handley. In 1960.

Beaman was elected state party chairman and became an assistant to U.S. Sen. Homer Capehart. Beaman later moved to Florida where he worked for the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. He retired in 1978.

Thirty-two Delaware and Randolph county students are included on the list. Each Hoosier scholar will receive a $500 cash award from the state to be used toward his or her further education.

The scholars will also receive a certificate during their commencement exercises.
