THE MUNCIE EVENING PRESS, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1987 PAGE 7 3 people found shot to rural farmhouse in EATON, Ohio (AP) Neighbors and investigators are searching for suspects and motives today in the deaths of three people who were shot in a rural Preble County farmhouse. There was no sign of forced entry, no sign that the three had been executed although all three were shot in the head and no indication that drugs or another crime might have been connected to the killings, Sheriff Paul Plaugher said Tuesday. The bodies were discovered Monday evening by a co-worker of David C. Smelser, 31, who came to the house wondering why Smelser had not come to work at his plumbing contractor's job Saturday and Monday, Plaugher said. Smelser was found on the living room floor, coroner's investigator Tim Miller said.

The bodies of Donald Lee Marker, and Melinda S. Newcomb, '24, of Eaton, were found in a kitchen, he said. Plaugher said the doors were Selma marshal to retire after 18 years on the job James Glore announced Tuesday he will retire at the end of the year after 18 years as Selma town marshal. Glore said one of the greatest frustrations he has had as marshal has been his inability to follow up on criminal investigations. The marshal said during a Tuesday evening town board meeting he did not blame board members for that since the marshal's position was never full time.

Glore expressed regret that he had had to put off some police investigations because his regular job required his attention. Board members said they would like to hire a full-time marshal, if funds can be found. Glore urged the board to seek a replacement who has already had or who plans to get training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. That training is mandated by statute. In other business, board members approved clerk-treasurer Juanita Craycraft's request to make a court-ordered payment of $32,500 to Jerry Stigall's heirs.

Stigall and three others were killed in a 1983 truck-train crash. Craycraft said settlements have already been made with the other three families. City, county statistics BIRTHS State vs. Michael D. Whittenburg, Dunkirk, At Ball Hospital resisting law enforcement.

Miller said the victims were fully clothed and had not been tied up. He said it appeared they died Friday evening. An autopsy showed that two of the three were shot more than once, but there was no sign of a struggle, he said. "Everything's seemingly reasonably ordinary (in, the house), so what do you have? You don't know. It's going to take talking to a lot of people," Miller said.

victims were shot with a handgun or a rifle, but he did not know the caliber, Miller said. The four-room house is isolated about 200 yards from the road along a farm lane. It is about two miles southwest of Eaton in western Ohio. Raymond Poos, a farmer who lived about one-half mile west of the old log house and had rented it to Smelser for three years, told the Dayton Daily News and Journal Herald that Smelser was an ideal tenant. Try This, At No Risk HOUSTON, Texas--If you are gradually going bald, obviously, something is causing your hair loss to be greater than the growth. It stands to reason that if you can reduce your hair loss to where it is less than the you can stop the balding and gradually thicken your hair. It is a known fact that "sebum" which is discharged through the sebaceous glands in the scalp, can cause excessive hair loss.
