Norrgard, a lifetime Hopkins area resident, died peacefully on Feb. 9, 2003, one day before the birthday of his beloved wife of 63 years, Lolo, who died last March. They are once more united. A lifetime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Les served it in many lay capacities, as it was the center of both his personal and family life. He is well-known to generations of Hopkins shoppers for his over 45 years as a meat cutter at Hovanders, seeing to it that all had the right cut of meat for both daily and special gatherings. A special word of thanks is expressed to Chapel View Care Center staff who cared for Les the last several years, particularly Stephanie, Leets, Linda, and Pam.

A memorial service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Hopkins on February 13th at 11 AM, preceded by an informal gathering at church beginning at 10. Nielsen, 101, died Thursday, February 6, 2003 at her residence at Charter House in Rochester, Minnesota. A memorial service is being planned at Charter House for a later date. Mrs. Nielsen was born at Skodborghus Ho- vedgaard, Vejen, Denmark. She attended Vejen Realskole, Fredriksborg Folk High School, and Askov Folk High School in Denmark.

In her youth she taught piano. After arriving in the United States on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1926, she made her home for a short time with the Oscar Fagre family in Estherville, Iowa. On January 1, 1927 she married William T. Nielsen, with whom she farmed near Estherville and Ringsted, Iowa for 47 years, with the exception of two years when they were both employed by the Borden Company in Little Valley, New York. After retirement in 1974 they moved to Vermont to be with their daughter, Signe.

They returned occasionally to their Estherville farm, "Prairie View Acres," where they had lived as a working family, renters, and later as owners. While living in Ringsted, Mrs. Nielsen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Later she became a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Although she devoted most of her time to farm and home, she was a nurses' aide for 11 years at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. She was a 4-H club leader, served on the 4-H County Committee, was a member of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, and participated in activities of the Estherville Republican Women and the Emmet County Farm Bureau. For several years she was director of music for the Social Order of the Beauceant, Estherville Assembly No. 163. She sang in the Emmet County Women's Chorus and was a member of the Midway Country Club, a local women's social group.

Mrs. Nielsen is survived by her daughter, Signe T. Nielsen Betsinger, Rochester, Minnesota, with whom she made her home since the death of her husband in 1976. She is also survived by cousins in Denmark. Her infant brother, Harald, preceded her in death.

Born in Minneapolis on October 31, 1924, the oldest child of Helen Winton Jones and Carl Waring Jones. He is survived by wife, Janet; children, Julie Becklund, Wendy Zehngebot (Lee), Carl Jones (Sandy), Helen Warren (Henry), Christopher Jones (Sheila); ten grandchildren and his brother, Waring. His sister, Thirza Jones Cleveland preceded him in death. Winton was in his senior year at The Blake School when he enlisted in the army. He served in World War II as a tank gunner in the Third Army, 778th Battalion, Company whose motto was which was typical of the way Winton lived.

He was proud that he received his high school diploma while serving his country in Czechoslovakia. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1949 with a BA in history, which continued to be an important life-long interest. He began his banking career at the 1st National Bank of Minneapolis in 1949 and later held several positions at other financial institutions. He purchased the North Shore State Bank in 1967, which became the Anchor Bank. Under his direction and leadership, the organization has grown to include five banks under a single holding company, Anchor Bancorp.

Today the Anchor Bancorp Holding Company is the eighth largest Minnesota bank holding company. Winton had many interests and passions. He was a director of The Minnesota Orchestral Association, Treasurer for Congressman Clark MacGregor, a director of the United Fund (Community Chest). Member and Treasurer of St. Episcopal Church, member of the Society of Amateur Chefs and Ducks Unlimited among many other positions and involvements.

He was the consummate collector, and encouraged this passion in others. He was a life-long learner, taking delight in reading and learning about many topics of personal interest that he loved to share. He was a generous man who will be missed by his family, colleagues and friends. Donations to the Print and Drawing Curatorial Council of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts or to the American Lung Association of Minnesota for the purpose of research, 490 Concordia Avenue, St. Paul, are suggested.

He was a loving husband, son, brother and friend. Born February 8, 1976 in Madison, Wisconsin, graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 1994.

He was a member of the Stillwater High School Track Team, Swim and Dive Team; as well as the Stillwater High School Soccer Team. He attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, graduating in 1998. He was an active member of numerous intramural sports teams and employed at Results in Woodbury since 1998. Married September 21, 2002 to the love of his life, Stephanie Shea. Anderson 612-729-2331 Hopp Ralph H. Hopp, 87, of St. Paul, on Feb. 7, peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson's. His sense of humor, gentleness and integrity will be missed by all who knew him in his long, rich life.

Born on his family's farm in Cook, 1915, he received his Ph.D. degree from the of Illinois. For more than 30 years he was on the of faculty, administering the library system (Director from 1971-76) where he left a legacy of improvements. In 1962-63 Ralph was a Fulbright Lecturer at the of Ankara, Turkey. He was active in national professional organizations, and his home neighborhood, St.

Anthony Park. Ralph found time for many interests skiing, camping, canoeing, fishing, tennis and golf, as well as bird watching, woodworking and travel. An accomplished musician, he played the guitar, piano and fiddle. Since 1959, Ralph enjoyed the family cabin in Amery, Wisc. He also wrote two books.

A graduate of ND State Univ. Mechanical Engineering. Coughlan Daniel Joseph, 77, a Mankato businessman and justice advocate, died Saturday, Feb. 8 at his home on Lake Washington. Best known as owner of the Mankato Stone Company but most proud of passing the bussing bill in 1969 that guaranteed free bussing to all students regardless of school choice.

Founding member of the MN Chapter of Citizens for Educational Freedom. Interests include: love of travel, different cultures and his dedication to the Catholic Church.
