Louis Park, MN. She was born May 30, 1908 in Moorhead, MN. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas John Thompson Dena Marie Lunder; husband, Erwin Norman; son, Thomas Erwin; brother, Norris and niece, Bette Lind; and many dear friends. Survived by her loving son, Paul of Naples, FL; daughter-in-law, Camilla of Mpls; former daughter-in-law, JoAnn of Mpls; 6 grandchildren, Diane (Evgeny) Kontar of Florence, AL, Susan (Sunil) Khatri of Edina, Robert Thomas of Moline, IL, Julia Mae of Edina, Terry (Laura) of Apple Valley, Carl (Christine) of Edina; 9 great-grandchildren, Joseph Paul, Sheryl, David, Nicholas, Jessica, Amanda, Samantha, Brandon and Jackson; Bertha moved from Crookston to Mpls in 1997, residing at Park Shore in St. Louis Park and later at Redeemer Residence in Mpls.

Bertha was active in her church, Eastern Star, Sons of Norway, and especially enjoyed the faculty events at the of MN Northwest School in Crookston, MN, where her husband, E.N. Reiersgord was Registrar. She taught school from 1928-1931 and returned to teaching 5th grade in 1958, retiring in 1973. Bertha enjoyed bridge and travel, and 20 winters in McAllen, TX. She was a gentle and optimistic person, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Interment at the North Cemetery, Ulen, MN. Funeral service 2 PM Thursday at Redeemer Residence, 31st St. Lyndale Ave Mpls, with visitation hour prior to service at Redeemer, and also 68 PM Wednesday at: Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel W. 50th St. Hwy 100 952-920-3996 Shotwell Robert Shotwell, 88, of Fergus Falls and Park Rapids, died March 14, 2004 at the Minnesota Veteran's Home.

He was born September 6, 1915 to Daniel B. and Eva (Enger) Shotwell in Minneapolis, MN where he grew up attended Roosevelt High. He was assigned to Air Transport Command in 1942 with Northwest Airlines and retired from there as a captain in 1975. On September 29, 1980 he married Peggy Foster in Park Rapids, MN. Upon retirement, the couple resided at Little Sand Lake near Park Rapids for approximately 25 years.

While travel in winter months took them to far away and interesting places, they always looked forward to returning to the beauty serenity of Little Sand Lake where they cherished their times with family and friends. He was a member of English Lutheran Church of Dorset, the retired NW Airlines Pilot's Association and a lifetime member of the American Legion in Park Rapids. His hobbies included engines, airplanes and the design and upkeep of his homemade car which he drove coast to coast in the 1930's and is now in Jay Leno's private car collection in Burbank, California. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Fergus Falls and Park Rapids; children, Robert (Diane) Shotwell, Jr. of Richfield and Susan Sloan (Bobby) of Hot Springs, SD; step-children, Marilyn Boyd of Minneapolis, Diane (Dennis) Sorenson of Becker, Mark (Carol) Boyd of Savage and Sherry Boyd and Steve of Rogers; 11 very special grandchildren, Heather, Kristin, Robin, Kim, Bronson, Justin, Joshua, Jessica, Brianna, Colton, and Brice; five great-grandchildren; brother, Ed (Beryl) Shotwell of Washington and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine in 1977 and two brothers, Jim and Dan Shotwell. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and concern received for both Bob and the family at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls. There will be a service at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to Minnesota Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls.

Solovey Oksana Solovey A Woman of Distinction. World Traveler. Accomplished Writer and Translator. Physicist. Art lover.

Ethnographer. A friend. Born July 2, 1919 in Poltava, Ukraine, passed away on March 21, 2004. Preceded in death by her parents, Dmytro and Maria Solovey, and brother, Taras Solovey. Retired from Waterous Company in 1982 after 32 years in engineering.

KATHERINE UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 1600 W. Hwy 96, Arden Hills, MN. Those she touched will always feel the warmth of her graceful hand. Ward Richard age 84 of St. Louis Park, died Mar.

22, 2004. Preceded in death by wife, Luella father Harry; mother step father Ione James Amdahl; brothers, Claude (Viola), Harold; sister, Harriet; step brothers, Loren (Jane) and Jerry (Louise). Born Nov. 27, 1919 in Canton, MN. Graduated Mabel High.

Moved to Mpls. Graduated Mpls School of Business. Dick and Lu met at the Marigold Ballroom and danced together for 59 years. Served in the Navy during WWII and was an accountant for Archer Daniels, Skippy-Best Foods, and Lutheran Brotherhood. While raising 3 children he was active in Mpls Exchange and Rotary Clubs, Toastmasters, Little League, and Cub Scouts, and volunteer treasurer for Westwood Lutheran Church.

His passions were golf, bridge, and Arizona vacations. Survived by son, Gary (Barbara); daughters, Diane, and Cindy (Dan) Neff; grandchildren, Brian Ward and Jason Neff; sister-in-law, Ellen; cousin, LaVonne Young; many loving relatives, friends, volunteers care-givers. A gracious thank you to Westwood Church, Emerald Crest, North Memorial Hospice, Hospice of the Lakes. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in the summer at Westwood Church. Cremation Society of MN 612-825-2435 Woods Bernice H. age 82, died peacefully at her home in Deephaven, MN on March 22, 2004 with her family at her side. Bunny was preceded in death by husband, Warren W. Woods and brother, Jack Lane. Interment Church Cemetery. Swanson Marion age 88, of Hawley, MN, formerly of Mpls, passed away in Fargo, ND. Marion Wiste was born on to Thorvald Bertha Christine Wiste in Lake Park, MN. On she married Donald Swanson. In 1945, they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, for a short time before moving to Mpls.

She moved into assisted living in Hawley, MN in May of 2002 and resided there until the time of her death. Marion loved her home in Mpls, loved her neighbors there and also her friends on Leech Lake in Walker, MN, where she and Don had a vacation home. Marion taught school in rural one-room schools and did secretarial work in her maiden years. In later years, she was a tip-top housewife and mother who did volunteer work. Preceded in death by husband, Don and daughter, Sharon.

She is survived by two nieces and four nephews. Interment Hillside Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ruth Welter. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Audrey Delores Welter.

He was a loving father to his children, Lee Zimmerley (James), Charles (friend Judy Guyer), Mary Schmolke (Theodore), Debra Raki- eten (Steven), Cheryl Monson (William); 13 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren; sister, Marilyn King; nieces and nephews. Chuck was born in St. Paul, MN on November 16, 1926 and attended the University of MN where he obtained his degree in Dentistry. He served with the United States Army during World War II. Chuck made many significant contributions to the Dental community over the years.

He was a founding member of the North Star Dental Study Club; Founder, member of Board of Governors, and Past President of the Minnesota Academy for Gnathological Research; Past President of the Minnesota Academy of Restorative Dentistry, Lifetime member and Past President of the Minnesota Dental Association; University of MN School of Dentistry Professor; Associate Professor Restorative Sciences; past member of many other Associations. Mass of Resurrection 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 24 at the Church of the Epiphany, 111th Ave. and Hanson Blvd NW, Coon Rapids (763755-1020). Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass. Gearty-Delmore 763-537-4511 Billman-Hunt 2701 Central Av. NE.789-3535 Scott Donald James Scott, 84, died March 22, 2004 at Seaside Health Center at Atlantic Shores in Virginia Beach. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Constance M. Scott, his parents, Leland W. and Winifred S.

Scott and his daughter, Mary Esther Scott, all also of Minneapolis. Survivors include his daughter, Constance Scott Lea and her husband, Page G. Lea of Virginia Beach; his grandson, Page G. Lea, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia, and his granddaughter, Susan S.

Lea of Virginia Beach. A student at Grinnell College, Mr. Scott interrupted his studies to serve his country with distinction during World War II as a First Lieutenant and B-24 Pilot in the Army Air Core. He flew 40 combat missions totaling 400 combat hours in the Southwest Pacific Theatre. Of particular note was his participation on September 30, 1944 in the 307th Bombardment Group's successful raid on the Japanese oil refinery at Balikpapan, Borneo, involving a 17 and hour flight covering 2600 miles, further than any mass daylight mission ever flown up to that time.

For his service and bravery, Mr. Scott was awarded the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal with five Bronze Stars. Following the war, Mr. Scott began his career in the insurance industry, earning his CLU designation and eventually becoming the branch manager and senior sales executive for North American Life and Casualty Company in Minneapolis. Known for his warm, friendly nature, Mr.

Scott enjoyed lightheartedly cajoling prospects with his favorite sales pitch, "It's a bad policy not to have a good one!" He was involved in numerous civic endeavors in the Twin Cities area and also served as an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, by Dr. Edward L. Moore. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions in his memory to the building fund at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2228 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

He was born July 11, 1919 in St. Paul to Jacob and Anne (Nelson) Smith. He graduated from Johnson High School, St. Paul. He was a U.S.

Navy Veteran serving WW II. He retired after 38 years of service for 7-Up Co. in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Anne Smith.

Robert is survived by two sons daughter-in-law, Robert F. (Linda Lou) Smith, Jr. of Aitkin and Steven R. Smith of Salt Lake City, UT; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday in St.
