The donation will be heldTues- day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

at the Christensen Community Center, on First Street South across from the Nampa Fire Department. The goal is 150 pints. Red Cross spokesmen said the need for blood in the community continues to be urgent. They said Dr. K.

E. Droulard, pathologist at Mercy Medical Center, told them that a number of elective surgeries were postponed at the center during late December and early January because blood supplies were limited. In addition, they said, a number of open heart surgeries have been performed for residents of this area since the last blood donation, in December, and each of these requires a large quantity of whole blood. The donation Tuesday is sponsored by three granges of the community--the Nampa Valley Grange, South Side Grange, and Walter's Dutte Grange. General chairman is Lester Allen, and the canteen furnishing refreshments for donors will in charge of the women's activity chairmen of the three granges.

CALDWELL The second lecture of a six part series on the quality of life in Idaho, sponsored by the College of Idaho's Regional Studies Center (ESC), will be delivered by Albert Carlsen, Boise, president of Idaho Power Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Jewett Auditorium. Carlsen will discuss "Energy's Contribution to the Quality of Life In Idaho." His topic is expected to further illuminate the question of howbest to utilize the resource of Idaho's rivers, according to RSC director Mrs. Donna Parsons. Larry W.

Harris, associate director of the RSC and coordinator of the lecture series, stated, "The lecture series is greatly enhanced by Albert Carlsen's presence. His activity in the mainstream of the vital area of energy is evidenced by the fact that he is one of two of- Drivers rail OSleep ficials of Pacific northwest power companies who will participate in an April symposium on a national energy policy." Carlsen is a former member of the Idaho Potato and Onion Commission, the Blackfoot school board, and for two years was president of the Idaho School Trustees Association. The public is invited to attend all lectures in the series free of charge. The series is co sponsored by the Hill Family Foundation of St. Paul, Minn.
