PAGE 18 MUNCIE EVENING PRESS, MONDAY, JUNE 30, 1980 Obituaries Herbert V. Smith Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary Chapel for Herbert V. Smith, 77, 913 Leland, who died in Parkview Nursing Home Sunday following an extended illness. The Rev.

Edward Pease will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Hawk Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. today and prior to services Tuesday. A Lansing, native who had been a Muncie resident for the past 40 years, he was a self-employed back hoe owner and operator for more than 1 30 years and also had done sewer construction, He was also a member of the FOP Lodge.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, who died in 1979. He is survived by two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. For several months he was under the care of Robert and Phyllis Barnett, Muncie. Jeannettc Wasson Funeral services for Jeannette (Jean) Wasson, 65, 106 Freedodm Acres, will be at 10 a.m.

Tuesday in Meeks Mortuary. The Rev. Harold Frederick will officiate and burial will be in Union Cemetery, DcSoto. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and prior to services Tuesday at the mortuary.

Mrs. Wasson died unexpectedly Friday in Ball Hospital. Lodema Strouse Private services were held in Terre Haute today for Lodema Strouse, 84, 1941 Garfield, Terre Haute, who died Saturday in Fountain View Place Nursing Home following an extended illness. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute. Mrs, Strouse was a native of Worthington, and had resided In Muncie the last four months.

She was a member of the Eastern Star of Terre Haute. Survivors include a sister, Miss Hilda McClarren, Muncie, and four nieces and nephews. Leonard II. MeCormack Funeral services for Leonard H. (Mac) MeCormack, 76, 2710 E.

Centennial, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mocks Mortuary. The Rev. William Meddock will officiate and burial will follow in Kim Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 to 5 p.m.

At the time of his retirement, he was employed as a butcher at Marsh Supermarket on West Jackson. Mr.

MeCormack was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Knights of Pythias 37, T.P.A., and Northdel Men's Club. He was also active in many scouting projects. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Berry, RR 13, and Mrs. Marilyn Moore, RR two sisters, Mrs.

Murray Services were today in Parson Mortuary for Joseph A. Murray, 77, 1226 W. 17th. who died In Ball Hospital Friday after a brief illness. The Rev.

Raymond Wieber officiated. Interment was in Beech Grove Cemetery. A Fairmount native, he had resided in Muncie since li)20, moving here from New York. Mr. Murray was an employee of Nickel Plate Railroad for more than 30 years before retiring as chief yard clerk in the HHius.

He was a member ni the Brotherhood Railway Clerks and formerly attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lola a son. Michael Kansas City, Mo a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence 'Rita1 Bashaw, Grand Rapids, Mich two sisters.

Mrs. Anastasia Rowland, Binghampton, N.Y.. and Mrs. Josephine Shank. Lakeland, Fla and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Singer was dead on arrival Sunday morning at Randolph County Hospital following a heart attack suf-lered at her home. She was a Randolph County native and member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Denver; a stepson, James Singer, Winchester; a foster daughter, Mrs. Sarah Hughes.

She had resided most of her life in the Canton, Ohio, area. Survivors include a son, George Armstrong, Muncie, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mae Rose Vaughan, Huntsville, one granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters, all of Missouri. The Rev. Ronald R. Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Hill Cemetery, Moberly, Mo.

Henry E. Pyle Henry E. Pyle, 70, 500 Delaware. Albany, apparently was electrocuted Saturday while searching for fishing worms in his back yard with an electric device. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Tuesday in Parson-Rust Funeral Home, Albany, with the Revs. Harold Bowlby and DeWayne Dickson officiating. Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery near Ridgeville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today or prior to services Tuesday.

Mr. Pyle was a Jay County native and resided in Albany the past 35 years, moving there from Ridgeville. He retired in 1975 from McCormick Brothers, where he had worked more than 40 years. He attended Albany Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Lela McGee Pyle, to whom he was married over 49 years; a daughter, Mrs.

Robert (Sue) Beatrice, Farmland; a son, Robert Pyle, Albany, who is a member of the Albany police department; a sister, Mrs. Ola Dickson, Bluff ton: four grandchildren, and two great-grandchilren. Nancy S. Kessler PORTLAND Funeral services for Nancy S. Kessler, 84.

427 Floral, sister of Archie Hoover, Muncie, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Limberlost Cemetery, east of Bryant. Mrs. Kessler died Saturday in Monticello Community Health Care Center following a three-month illness.

Born in Jay County, she was one of the first workers hired by the Jay Garment Corp. when it was founded in 1921. She retired from the firm following 33 years of service. She also was a member of the Southside Church of Christ. Survivors, in addition to her brother, include a daughter, Mrs.

Wall was a Wells County native and moved to Muncie 45 years ago, He retired in 1964 from Acme-Lee Division, where he was a millwright for 24 years. He was a member of Wilmore United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Dale and Fred, both of Richmond; a daughter, Mrs. Nila Clem, Anderson; two step-sons, Charles and Richard Flatter, Hartford City; three step-daughters, Mrs. Judy Pennington, Silver Lake, and Mrs.

DeNelda Cox and Mrs. Elizabeth Fannin, both of Miami, a sister, Mrs. Lillian Dyson, Bluffton; three brothers. Donald Wall. Muncie, HarryxWall, Pennville, and Ralph Wall, Warsaw; five grandsons and five granddaughters, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Geraldine M. Rogers DUNKIRK Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Jones Mortuary for Geraldine Mae Smith Rogers, 61, 215 Blackford, Dunkirk, who died in her home Saturday. The Rev. Herman Fenning will officiate.

Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Dunkirk. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. An English, Ind, native, she was the daughter of J. C.

and Lula Cooper, was a lifelong Dunkirk resident and was retired from Kerr Glass Co. She was a member of the Church of the Living God, Union City. Survivors include her husband, Virgil; two sons, Daniel, Union City, and Timothy, Ridgeville; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Spade, Dunkirk, Mrs. Wadean Cook, Mason, Ohio, and Mrs.

Mr. Clark, who had been a resident of the nursing home for several years, was the wife of long-time Muncie businessman Lindley Clark. She moved to Muncie from Winchester in 1933 with her husband. She was a member of Frieiids Memorial Church, Muncie, King's Daughters and Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Lindley H.

Westfleld, N.J., and Philip. Muncie: a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Parsons. Da-leville; and two brothers, Frank T. Nesbitt, Toledo.

Ohio, and Howell D. Nesbitt, Marion. Jesse Lewis Johnson ALEXANDRIA Funeral services for Jesse Lewis Johnson, 60, 301 Miles, father of Mrs. Diana Mauck, Yorktown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Noffze Funeral Home here.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery here. Mr. Johnson died Sunday at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was a veteran of the Air Force in World War II and a member of the Isaac Walton League.
