Often we fail to utilize the waste grazing on our farms that cattle will not use but which can be turned into profit with sheep. Lespedeza is coming fine this season and corn hasn't looked better in years. If some of these fields are sheep tight or can be made so, reasonably easy, you have a good opportunity to turn some of this rough vegetation into cash because the gains will be cheap and that's one of the secrets to profit with all classes of livestock today. Lcimbs will do a good job of cleaning up late weeds and lower leaves in the corn field after the leaves and shucks ars beginning to turn.

If you have a farm with considerable rough land that should stay in grass, can put up some good legume winter roughage, and like sheep, you won't go wrong with a ewe flock. Ask your neighbor, who has handled sheep for a number of years, how many times he has lost money on them. Dollar for dollar the ewes will return more on your investment than any other class of livestock. Sheep require good management practices, but isn't that true of all of our livestock if we expect to make a good profit. Losses from dogs and wolves have discouraged many sheep men in the past.

There are few things we can do to help cut down on these losses. Also insurance is now available at to a head which gives protection against loss from wild animals at a very reasonable cost. We have a place on many of our farms for more sheep and, besides making money consistently, they will help us do a better job of grassland farming on steep rolling land. For the farm customers of our bank we will finance the feeder lambs for 100 days or such time as may be needed to produce market lamb. The ewes will be financed for our customers as has been customary in the past.

For all 4-H Clubs members and F. F. A. boys, feeder lambs and ewe's will be financed at interest. If you can use any ewes or feeder lambs this Fall, let us know by August 1st and all orders will be pooled together.
