Preceded in death by wife Mary Jane Burger, July 2, 1920 March 3, 2004, and son, John Burger. Survived by son, Rick Burger (Jennifer), Destin, FL; daughter, Susan Guldseth (John), Cherry Valley, CA; daughter, Melinda Colwell (Warren Lester), Deephaven, MN, 7 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, their families, and many caring friends. John, born in Lafayette, IN, graduated from the U.

of IN in 1935 with a B.S. in business, and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He graduated in 1938 from the U. of MN with a law degree. John joined the Air Force in 1941, became a Lt.

Colonel and served at Randolph Air Force Base, TX, and the Pentagon, Washington D.C., and afterward member of the Air Force Reserves. John was employed by MN School of Business, U. of MN, Automation Institute of America, Dale Carnegie, and 25 years with General Mills in Mpls. He was active in civic affairs including YMCA, United Way, Jr. Achievement, Boy Scouts of America, Citizens League, Council of Churches, Outward Bound, and The Henry George Foundation.

After retiring from General Mills in 1980, he then served as a 4 term representative in the MN State Legislature, District 43A. He then ran for Governor and State Treasurer of MN, representing the Independent Republican Party. John had a lifetime endeavor of promoting Henry Site-Value Taxation. His public speaking inspired many. He co-authored two books: Business Automation Fundamentals and People Management Principles, and numerous poems.

His family and friends always appreciated John for his sense of humor and loyalty to family, church and country. His love for life and commitment to honesty and good will were central to his personality. His interests included building and remodeling family homes with his beloved wife Mary Jane. John and Mary Jane were members of Wayzata Community Church since 1955 and attended Beaumont Presbyterian Church in Beaumont, CA in their later years. John and Mary Jane were especially grateful for the loving care they received in their last years at the Presbyterian Home in Spring Park, MN and the Miravilla Care Center in CA.

Corrine was born in Superior, WI on March 20, 1916 to Nels and Ida Olson. She graduated from Superior State Teachers College and taught school in Willow River, MN, Ironwood, MI and Superior, WI. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, now United Presbyterian Church in Superior. The resided in Superior until they moved in 1999 to the Gideon Pond Assisted Living Facility in Bloomington. Corrine has been a resident of Ebenzer Ridges Care Center since June of 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, former Superior Attorney and Douglas County Family Court Commissioner who died in Feb. of 2001; her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. She is survived by 4 daughters, Karen (Rod) Daniels, Julie (Jerry) Peck, Susan (Glenn) Viggiano and Chris (Frank) Sachs; 1 son, R. William (Rita) Cheever; 13 grandchildren, Mark (Laura), David (Dr. Mari) and Joel Daniels, Chriss and Brian (Amy) Peck, Sarah (Casey) McCabe, Eric Viggiano, Anna (Jason) Bean, Kari, Jenna and David Sachs, Becky and Dan Cheever; 4 great- grandchildren, Gavin, Sean and Aran (Mark) Daniels, and Annika (David) Daniels; several nieces and nephews.

Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 DeVold Elsie Alina DeVold, age 88, a resident of Bloomington, MN, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 in Sarasota, FL. She was born on April 27, 1916 to Hiski and Hilda (Peltonen) Yoki near Wolf Lake, MN.

Elsie's husband, Helmer; her parents and two sisters, Meimi Esther Yoki and Jenny Marie Yoki, preceded her in death. Elsie was an avid gardener and loved fishing at Little Bowstring Lake in Suomi, MN. She worked at Northern Ordnance during WWII, was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and retired in 1998 as a self- employed housekeeper and caregiver. Elsie is survived by her son, Ronald (Evonne) of Sarasota, FL and two granddaughters, Ronda Marie (Stacy), of Aurora, IL and Monica Marie of Milan, Italy.

GILL BROTHERS 952.888.7771 Engel Colonel George Engel, US Air Force (Retired) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at home with his wife Helen and his daughter Marnie by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was 73. Born on April 12, 1931 in Chicago, IL. George was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Engel Sr. and Madge (Long) Engel and his older sister, Marilyn (Engel) Kocon and younger brother, Gary Engel.

George graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, MN in 1949. He received his officer's commission upon graduation from The College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN in 1955 and entered active duty shortly thereafter. During his career in the USAF, George was rated a Master Navigator.

He flew 100 combat missions over North Vietnam during a 1968 assignment to Southeast Asia. His combat awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1979 after 24 years of service. George entered into real estate investments after retiring and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his granddaughters, Madeline and Catherine. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughter, Marnie (Greg) Engel- Cervenka; his son, Christopher Engel (fiancee Danita Erickson); stepchildren, Gene (Maria) Dykes, Karen (Michael) Hertz, Alvin (Mary) Latham and Darlene (Tom) Redclift their children and grandchildren; brother-in-law Stan Kocon from Minnesota; 3 nieces, Mary Kay (Bob) Baden, Maureen (Mike) Kurvers and Maureen O'Keefe; 5 nephews, Craig (Lois) Kocon, Kent (Kathi) Kocon, Mark (Sandy) Kocon, Kevin O'Keefe and Greg O'Keefe and a host of cousins.

He was active in the mortgage financing industry and as a real estate financier and investor.

He started his career at Northwestern National Life Insurance Company and subsequently IDS Mortgage Corporation. In 1989, he was a co-founder of Royale Investments, a real estate investment trust, now known as Corporate Office Properties Trust which is publicly traded on the NYSE.
