Star Tribune B7 Sunday, July 18 2004 Krueger (Lonergan) Jeanette born April 17, 1937 in Freeport, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 14 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, foster parent, neighbor and colleague. A warm, feisty and independent woman whose passions included gardening, talking on the phone, scrap booking, internet surfing, playing SKIP-BO, home remodeling and decorating, buying in bulk, cooking for groups of people, but her greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her large and loving family. She is survived by her children, Victoria Cross (Daniel), Christine Gregori (Michael), Michael Lonergan (Richard Klein), Patrick Lonergan and Jennifer Lonergan; and their father, Robert Lonergan; brothers, Raymond Timmer (Jeannie), Ervin Timmer (Arlene); and sister, Viola Robidou (William). She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Koski Walt Koski, Cooperator, Is Dead at 94 J.W. Koski, ardent advocate of the Cooperative Movement, who led the 1964-merger of Central Cooperatives, Inc.

(CCI) of Superior, with Minneapolis-based Midland Cooperatives, died March 22nd. He was a resident of the Finnish- American Rest Home in Lake Worth, Florida. Mr. Koski belonged to a generation of Finns and Scandinavians who devoted their lives to organizing and advancing farmer-owned regional cooperatives in the U.S., based on the Rochdale (England) Principles of 1844. His own career began in 1933 as a clerk at the Co-op store in Ontonagon, and later as an accountant with the Cooperative Publishing Assn.

in Superior, Wisc. With the help of evening classes in business at UMD, Mr. Koski rose to Controller at the Central Cooperative Wholesale, and in 1952, to General Manager of the newly reorganized CCI. He retired as Treasurer of Midland Co-op in 1974. Over the years Mr.

Koski served as director and president of the National Cooperative Refinery chairman of the board of The Cooperative League of USA, as well as executive committee member and overseas delegate of the International Cooperative Alliance based in London, England. John Waldemar Koski was born near Ontonagon in Winona, on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1909, his 18th birthday. When taken to Finland by his parents at age 11, he vowed to leave as soon as possible for his beloved America. His return at age 19 saw, first, a harrowing year of Montreal street labor and Quebec lumbercamps, before reaching Ontonagon in 1929. It was while working as a teamster on the Jonas Ruut- tila dairy farm in Green, that he met his wife of 63 years, Eva Ruuttila.

She preceded him in death on March 31, 2000, as did his elder daughter, Kathleen Shu- kair Leffler on February 13, 2000. Mr. Koski is survived by children Jack (Karen) of Robbinsdale, Ted (Kathie Little) of LaCrescent, and Fairfield, Enni (Carl) Gregas of Bessemer, and Greg (Judy Sobel) of Portland, and by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services were held March 24th at the Babione-Stephenson Funeral Home in Lantana, Florida, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24th, 10:00 am, at Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon. She enjoyed spending time with Penny, her faithful companion of thirteen years.

He spent summers at Ellsworth, ME. Skip was an active and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1980. He was a member of Lake Superior Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry in Duluth, MN and Tripoli Shrine Temple in Milwaukee, WI. His body was donated to the University of Florida Gainesville and will be cremated and returned to Minnesota for burial at Acacia Cemetery in Mendota Heights at a later date. He graduated with a Bachelors of Art degree in Economics and Political Science from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN in 1958. One year later in 1959 he graduated from Military Language School in Monterey, CA. He then served as a Czech, Russian, and German language interpreter for U.S. Army Intelligence in Berlin, Germany from 1960 and 1961.

After returning home from the military service in Europe, he worked for Control Data in Minneapolis, MN. He met his love Karen Nilsson in 1966, and the happy couple was married at Cannon River Lutheran Church on August 12, 1967. Lars was the proud father of two daughters. Lisa Louise was born in 1972, and Sara Nilsson was born in 1978. Lars was also proud of his public service work for the Minnesota International Trade Office where he set up the Minnesota Trade Office in Olso, Norway.

Lars enjoyed international Marketing work for many companies in South America, the Caribbean, the Pacific Rim, and Europe. Lars was preceded in death by his father, E. James; mother, Ethel; niece Sheleen; nephew Roger. Lars is survived by his loving family and friends: wife Karen; daughters Lisa and Sara; sisters Karen and Johanna; and brother David. Lars was an active and well known member of a multitude of groups such as Faith Lutheran softball team, team, Rotary International Club, Sons of Norway, and his the Lars Nelson Sophisticated Swing Band.

Olson John L. Olson, age 78, passed away in Leesburg, FL on July 3, 2004. Born in Rochester, raised in Montevideo, MN, he was a veteran of the US Navy in WWII, graduated from the of owned a personnel business for 30 years then started a second career developing RV resorts golf courses in MN and FL. He was a founding member of Dan Patch Toastmasters, a Mason, a Shriner, served on 6 different boards of directors was a past president of MN Land Yacht Caravan- ers Club. He served 20 years as personnel committee for the former American Lutheran Church national headquarters.

Survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois of Leesburg, FL; daughter, Gwen (Jim Lunde) Olson; son, Tom (Marty) Olson, York, PA; grandchildren, Christopher and Caroline Olson; brothers, Ervin Olson, Montevideo, MN, and Don Olson, Baltimore, MD; sister, Mary Nelson, MN. Rupert Mary Theresa, age 86, of St. Paul, passed away Born in Georgetown, MN, to Mary and John Hermann. Preceded in death by husband, John; sisters, Grace and Magdalene and brothers, John and Phil. Mary was a great mom, strong in character faith opinion she had a mangificent work ethic. Mary was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church and loved gardening. Services were held last Thursday at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

As the daughter of Colonel Edward Schmitt and his wife Loretta, Katie lived throughout the U.S. and in post WWII Berlin. Katie graduated from Visitation Convent in St. Paul and St. Scholastica in Duluth, then served as a Sister of the Benedictine Order for many years, teaching elementary school in Grand Rapids, Virginia, Duluth, Proctor and International Falls.

She later continued as a Catholic school teacher, working at Epiphany, Coon Rapids, Good Shepard, Golden Valley, and St. Evangelist, Little Canada, before retiring after 40 years. An active bridge player and frequent traveler, Katie spread good works and helped others generously throughout her lifetime. Visitation: Kessler Maguire Funeral Home, 640 West 7th St. at St.

She was born on February 2, 1943 in Bemidji, MN to August and Rose (Schroeder) Sievek. Juanita had been a Registered Nurse for many years.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Masters degree from the University of Minnesota, was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing, a published author and a member of the Crimson Cuties chapter of the Toledo Red Hat Society. In the past year, she has been known to parachute with SkyDive Tampa Bay, and sing with The Toast of Tampa, A Sweet Ade- lines choral group. She is survived by her husband, William; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ross and Helen Flom of Highland, Utah; and by her father-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Veronica Arata of Plymouth Meeting, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

952-924-4100 Turner William Merrill (Bill) Turner, age 83 of MN and Green Valley, AZ passed away on July 15, 2004. Lovingly remembered by wife of 58 years Merilyn (Meme) Turner; daughter Rev. Lindy Purdy (John); son Dr. Jim Turner (Kristin); grandchildren, Alyssa and Ty Purdy, Mitchell, Steven and Arend Turner; nephews Tom and Chuck Turner. Bill was a graduate of Washburn High School and the University of Minnesota School of Engineering.

He served in the Naval Air Corps during WWII and returned to the University to complete his degree in mechanical engineering. During 83 years of a well-lived life, he was a student, aviator, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, avid reader, novelist, and a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a great friend and gracious entertainer to many and generous with his wit and talents to all. A service of remembrance will be held at Wayzata Community Church, 125 East- Wayzata Wayzata on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 3:00 PM followed by a celebration at the home of Jim and Kristin Turner.
