Johnson Sr. Edward A. Johnson 82, a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, died Sunday, February 17, 2008. The service will be at noon EST Saturday, i4 LdS February 23, at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee, with burial at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.

In 1942 she went to work for the U.S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone, where she met Robert Dunn, her husband of 54 years. After marrying in 1946, she resided in Westchester County, New York, for 35 years, during which time she raised three children and proved the gracious reputation of Southern hospitality. Carolyn's many interests included playing golf; traveling, especially in the Caribbean; playing cards with friends; crocheting; and reading. Carolyn loved music and had an excellent voice.

She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed entertaining at home. Her family and friends spent many enjoyable hours gathered in her kitchen for coffee and conversation. With her warm, outgoing personality she made friends quickly wherever she lived and traveled. Above all, Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and friend. Carolyn is survived by her children, Nancy An-delman of Columbia, MD, Michael Dunn of Charlotte, NC, and Carolyn Hawver of Bridgewater, NJ.

He attended Chipola Jr. College. He was also in the Florida National Guard and a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church; Washington Lodge No. 2, and the Florida Sheriffs Association. He was elected as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1984 and 1988.

He had a career in law enforcement that spanned over 30 years. He started with the Gadsden County Sheriffs Office as jailer and worked his way up to position of captain over investigations and narcotics. He was also a member of the Florida Intelligence Unit for over 15 years. He leaves behind his wife, Dee Godwin of Quincy; a son, Kevin Godwin (Kim) of Quincy; a daughter, Kim Fowler (Sean) of Atlanta, GA; his mother, Mrs. Addie E.

Godwin (Linnie) of Quincy, a brother, John Godwin (Sharon of Blakely, GA; a stepson, Jason Wells (Claire) of Colquitt, GA; and nine grandchildren.
