Maurice Thomas Watkins of Vaiden, The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Thomas Marve Thompson, Jr. Her paternal grandparents are Mrs. Marve Thompson, Sr. of Winona and the late Mr. Thompson.

Her maternal grandparents a are Mrs. Beulah McGary Woods of Greenwood and the late Byron Frederick Councilor of Winona. Miss Thompson graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Mississippi State University and Holmes Junior College, Mr. Watkins is the the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Thomas Henry Watkins of Cruger, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Walton Thornton of Vaiden. Mr. Watkins graduated from Vaiden High School and attended Holmes Junior College.

He is now employed in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. The wedding will take place on June 3, at the Church of the Nativity in Greenwood. Homemakers Club Program Subjects Of Various Kinds The Halcyon Homemakers Extension Service Club met at the home of Mrs. William Porter, with the president, Mrs. William Stubbs leading in the pledge of allegiance to the United States of America flag.

Mrs. Luther G. Shelby gave the devotional taken from Matthew and the roll was answered by tips for good grooming. Mrs. Johnny Jackson's suggestion to sell candy for a money- making project was approved.

Mrs. Kenneth Allen, Health and Safety committee chairman, gave a review on National Poison Prevention Week, citing that fifty per cent of children's deaths are due to carelessness in the home. George Program Is Told For April Third In Morgan City James Davis Downing will be presented in recital at three o' clock on Sunday afternoon, A- pril 3. at the Morgan City Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Numy Austell- Hines is his piano teacher and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

J. W. Downing of Morgan City. The first part of the program includes: Two Parts Invention No. 4, and Prelude and Fugue No.

21 in Flat Major by Bach; Sonata in by Haydn, and Sonata in No. 1 by Mozart. Mrs. Mack Kimbrough will sing "Songs of Spring" arranged by Thompson before the pianist renders the last part of the program. His other selections are Romance, Opus 28, No.

2, Schumann; Golliwog's Cake Walk and Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum by Debussy; and Military Polonaise Major by Chopin. The ushers for this recital will be the pianist's brothers Ben and Sam Downing. Charles D. Moore, 413 East Clai- Harpist Presented In Community Concert Series Miss Mildred Dilling, born in Indiana, began her studies in Indianapolis and continued in Paris under Henriette Renie, preceding her debut there in the Salle Evars. Immediately following this auspicious event, numerous engagements took place on Continent and in the British Isles. Her success in America was also instantaneous and permanent as borne out by her recent Town Hall recital which was proclaimed "a delight" by leading New York newspapers. Miss Dilling's activities through the past few seasons are typical of the pattern of her busy artistic life.

They include a return tour of Central and South America and the Caribbean area, comprehensive tours of the United States and Canada, each winter and a variety of engagements in Europe every fall. The European tours are highlightlighted by recitals in France, Germany, Austria, Holland, England, Switzerland and Norway. Miss Dilling will be presented by the Greenwood Community Concert Association at eight o'clock on Monday, April 4, in the high school auditorium. Members of Greenwood and the surrounding area are looking forward to hearing "The First Lady of the Thomas Garrett Walker, Jr. Lt.

and Mrs. Tommy Walker of Stewart Air Force Base, Smyrna, Tennessee, announce the arrival of a son, Thomas Garrett Walker, born March 28. Elizabeth joins in welcoming her little brother. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.

R. T. Walker of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pearson of Minter City.

Hootenanny Trip Enjoyed By PTA The Davis School PTA met Thursday night at the Junior High School Auditorium. Mrs. Murray Collum, president, called the meeting to order. During the brief business session a letter of appreciation, from Miss Leta Boyce, for the gift that was presented to her was read by Mrs. Collum.

Mrs. H. Reed Carroll, chairman of the nominating committee presented the report and the following were elected: Mrs. Murray Collum, president; Mrs. H.

L. Gordon, first vice president; Mrs. W. P. Newman, second vice president; Mrs.

S. L. Johnson, recording secretary; Mrs. James Coward, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Fred Edwards, treasurer.

Room count was won by the following classes: Mrs. Higginbotham, First Grade; Miss Fullilove, Second Grade; Mrs. Smith, Third Grade; Mrs. Johnson, Fourth Grade; Mrs. Kimbrough, Fifth Grade; Mrs.

Holloway and Miss 1 Burnett, tied for Sixth Grade and Mrs. Nabors, Special Education. Mrs. Dexter Kimbrough's fifth grade presented the program. After the devotional and the pledge of allegiance to the flag, the entire class boarded the music train for a trip to Hootenanny, U.S.A.

Upon arrival they enbarked from the train and entertained the audience with several musical numbers before boarding the train for the return trip. The program was enjoyed and appreciated, MILDRED DILLING PLAYS MONDAY NIGHT Homemakers Plan Various Activities The Under the Hill Extension Homemakers Club met with Miss Grace Elliott, with Mrs. J. B. Bruce calling the meeting to order by giving the Thought for the Day.

The pledge of allegiance to the flag was repeated and all joined in singing the Litter Bug Song. The devotional was given by Mrs. Mary Clements. One of the club projects is planting a rose for everyone's yard in cooperation of yard beautification. Mrs.

S. L. Ball, chairman, gave each member and visitor a rose bush to plant. Richard Jeffrey McCool Mrs. Bruce talked on books to read her subject was "Wake Up and The educational topic, "Rights of Women" was given by Mrs.

Willie B. Kent. There was a follow -up by Miss Juanita Woods, physical therapist from the State Board of Health, which was given in Carrollton last week by Mrs. Ball and Miss Elliott. The Cotton Style Show was enjoyed with Mrs.

Ball as first place winner, Miss Elliott, second place and Bruce and Mrs. Kent tied for third. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwin (Sonny) McCool, Jr.

of Memphis, Tennessee, announce the arrival of a son, Richard Jeffrey McCool, born Tuesday, March 29. Angela joins in welcoming her little brother. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.
