A10 WEDNESDAY. JAN. 11.1995 FAMILIES KOKOMO TRIBUNE Keep yonngsters busy wtth games his winter By WILLIAM tCHHTMANN Aaaociateti Pftss Tin Star. Lawnmower Man, Pac- Man 2 and Maximum Carnage are among the games that can get the gamers in your house through the bleak days of January and beyond. For Super Nintendo, give Tin Star a try.

This nifty little game the first that can be played with either controller, mouse or Super Scope tells the tale of a week in the life of a Dudley Doorightish, bright blue lawman of the old West and his faithful horse, Aluminum. As each day dawns, Tin Star does a little target practice. Then he moves On to the real thing. On Monday, he deals with a gang of stage robbers, halts a stampede and grabs some rustlers, then faces Tiny Johnson in a showdown. Sunday afternoon, to close out the week, he tracks down Black Bart and the Bad Oil gang.

Great graphics and decent control of the aiming cursor, along with zero gore, make this an excel- lent pick for the younger set. For Genesis owners and movie fans, Time Warner Interactive has turned the strange flick "Lawnmower Man" into a pretty entertaining game. You'll recall the movie deals with a dim-bulb gardener who is given some virtual reality therapy and turns into an evil cyberspace genius. You travel through six levels, with fairly routine hordes of enemies and bosses. It's the special virtual reality sections, where you dodge surreal obstacles and shoot targets, that sets LM apart from most action carts.

From Namco comes Pac-Man 2, in which the lovable yellow munch- er becomes a family man with a real life. You spend your days wandering around Pac-Land, running errands for the missus. PM2 has to complete a certain number of tasks. What makes this game different? PM2 often just takes off on his own, out of your control. He even gets depressed and goes on strike at times.

Use your slingshot to get him going; shoot at everything on the screen and see what happens; often, what happens will prompt Mr. 2 to get to.work. Podlatrlc Physician A Surgeon 'SOFT' SOLUTIONS TO HAMMERTOES A hammertoe is a foot deformity in which one or more toes bend sharply under instead of staying in their normal, straight position. When the hammertoe is flexible when it can be eased into normal position by hand a tenotomy and capsulotomy may be among the treatments recommended. These procedures, often done under local anesthesia in the doctor's office, involve small incisions on the affected toes which allow the podiatrist to cut the tight tendons and capsules that are causing the problems. Once these soft tissues are released, toes can resume their normal flat position. The patient can generally walk on the foot as soon as the procedure is completed, with little more than a small bandage to cover the Incision.

When every step is a painful one, it's time to pay attention to what your feet are trying to tell you. Your feet aren't supposed to hurt and there is help through the techniques of modern podiatry when they do. We offer complete family foot care at KOKOMO PODIATRY CLINIC, 320 E. Taylor. PH: 457-0125.
