For Instance: "Patton," "Coldfinrer," "True Grit," "Lawrence of Arabia," "The Odd Couple," "The Ad-venturers," and "Taming of the Shrew." Now if they announced that these would tie shown without commercial spectacle, or snipping of scenes the netw ork deems the audience unable to handle, I could get excited. 44, Movie 5 0O4, High Chaparral io, $afair To Advents 2 30-3, Movie 7, Movie 7 303. 4, World Of Duney 4, Alma De Bronce France Panorama io, Movie 5, Newsmaker '72 '3, Hazel 7, Call Out 10, McHale's Navy 5 15-9, Swedish Close Up 9, French Chef 300-4, Comment! 5.30- 4 Net Playhouse 8 00-2, Surivial 5, Face The Nation '0, News 7, 13, Bl 7, Issues And Answers '3. A suggestion to those leaning towards the latter: Don't mess up our roads with your stupidity or brains. Drinking Is one of the national enjoyments, but don't let it control you.

Anyone who Indulges should know the rules. Besides you don't want to miss all that convention hanky-panky next week. As for the rest of us, look out for yourself and others and drive and enjoy in safety. End of sermon. See you next week, same time, same page.

Now for the devoted among you. week the net-works and stations have dug into their dusty canisters and pulled out some oldie but goodie movies. For your perusal: On Monday and Tuesday on Channel 2 at 8 p.m. in color the "Music Man" with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones: "An American in Paris" with Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron and Oscar Levant on the CBS late night movie on July 4th: "Murder Most Agatha Christie thriller also on the CBS late flick on Thursday starring Margaret Rutherford as the undaunted amateur sleuth, Miss Marple. All of the above are recommended viewing if recovering from the holiday weekend or if Dick Cavett or Johnny Carson have nothing to offer.

Sports fans will not be lacking for entertainment or excitement either. The final round of a world championship tennis tournament The Holton Tennis Classic will be colorcast by NBC tomorrow from 12:30 2:30 p.m. The entry list includes Arthur Ashe and Bob Lutz. Also the Orioles and the Tigers will clash at Detroit this Monday night on NBC at 5 p.m. An interesting statistical sidenote: Last year at this time, the O's were entrenched in first place with 48 victories with the Tigers struggling along in third place.

This year, the roles seem in the process of reversing themselves. In the way of commemorating the national holiday, NBC will present on Tuesday, "The Stars and Stripes Show" at 9:30 p.m. Bob Hope, Anita Bryant, Nancy Wilson, Mickey Mantle, Johnny Unitas, Roger Stauback, Happy Hairston, Ed McMa-hon and Kenny Rogers and the First Edition head out the list of performers dealing on the patriotic theme. For those with color sets, the audience did not wear the national colors by co-incidence it was a prerequisite for admission. Speaking of those Commercial Interruptions.

Federal Trade Commission has done it again! And from their collective mouth they spake "Let there be counter-advertising!" Viewers have already encountered briefly this new procedure at the opening of year '71 with the anti-cigarette ads. I can see it all now. A rebuttal to Alpo Dog Food: a herd of cattle lobbying for equal time and cruel and unjust punishment. Or how about Ultra-Brite boothpaste: A Masters and Johnson survey confirming or disproving the sex appeal of the mouth. Or an association representing the national breweries rebutting the motto "you're never too old for Kool-Aid." The possibilities are endless.

It just may replace regular programming. LA LJMtm i i auiaaav i 00- -J, Lawrence Welk 3, 4. S. 10, News 9, Thirty Minute Outer Limit 3. 7, 4.

On the eve of Fischer's scheduled challenge match with world champion Boris Spassky of Russia, officials of the Icelandic Chess Federation said they still had no assurances that Fischer would appear. Almost at the last minute the 29-year-old American grand Dr.
