County Polio Costs Down During 1959 The cost of polio patient care in Monroe county 1959 was less than in any of the past 20 years. Only $95 was required fot patient care during the year just ending, according to the annual report of Robert 'W. Larson, treasurer of the Monroe county chapter of The National Foundation.

The audited treasurer's report showed receipts of $1321.64 and expenditures of 129.39. i a balance on hand ol 51192.25 at the end of the year. The report said that the amount spent for patient care was for polio patients stricken prior to 1956, but for cases in which the patients still require some aid. In making public the treasurer's report, Mrs. C.

J. Murray, president of the Monroe county chapter, said, "We firmly behove that any organization soliciting funds fiom the general public also owes that public a complete financial report. The books of the Monroe county chapter are audited and are open at any time to anyone who wishes to examine them. "The balance on hand will allow us to continue our program care for those stricken with polio. The Salk vaccine was developed with March of Dimes funds and its widespread use cut drastically the number.of polio cases.

We hope that the continued contributions to the March of Dimes will enable The National Foundation to perform similar research for arthritis cases and for those cases involving birth defects. "We hope, too, that all children will continue to get their polio shots as they are needed. The program of The National Foundation is one of research and prevention as well as patient care. In th-e instance of polio, most cases can be prevented by the use of this vaccine, or the severity of the cases can be reduced. So we urge the continued use of the Salk REAL ESTATE-Max Lewis, et.
