J. Gerhard's store, and will try and learn something about that Jine of business this summer.

--Paul Daage was down from Rock- tord last week looking after the work at the telephone exchange, while Perry Hoggs was laid up with quinsy, --Capt. O. II. Lyon, one of the prominent citizens of Kockford, died at his home on Satnrdaj', 18. Mr.

Lulu Farr-Crosby of Clarlrs- ville was taken by Dr. Nevins this morning to a city hospital, where she will undergo an operation. --The Misses Alice ana- Margaret Ilardman went to Clear Lake and Mason City last week to visit friends. Miss Margaret returned Saturday, but Miss Alice remained Cot a longer visit. --John Timblm came back to Greene yesterday from southern Minnesota, where he has been for several and will remain here until fall at least.
