Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was a native of Dublin and was a graduate of Earlham College. He taught mathematics at Purdue and Michigan universities and had worked 35 years for World Book Encyclopedia, where he was state manager for World Books at Michigan. He was an avid amateur photographer and was a member of the Ann Arbor First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I.

His wife, Lena Marie, died in 1982. Survivors include one son, Robert H. of Chula Vista, eight grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren; three brothers, Sterling, Robert and Wayne, all of Richmond. One son, Phillip is deceased. Funeral service for Clair Reid will be at 2 p.m.
