PAGE FIVE THE MARBLE ROCK NEWS Wednesday, September 19, 1956 No. 7 Rites Held For Andrew Jondl Andrew Jandl, 79, passed away quite suddenly at his home in Marble Rock, Saturday, September 15 at 10:30 a. m.

Mr. Jandl suffered a stroke about three years ago and never fully recovered from its effects. He was born December 25, 1877, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and came to America when 14 years of age. lived first in Roseville Community. In 1900 lie was united in mar- rigae to Mary K.

Musil also of Roseville. The new home was established on a farm near Dougherty. A few years later Mr. and Mrs. Jandl moved to a farm near Marble Rock, where they lived until 1943, when they retired to a home in Marble Rock.

Mr. Jandl was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Roseville. For many years he was a member- of the board of directors of the Farmers Co-operative Elevator and also served as President for some years. He is by his wife, two daughters, Mrs.

Patrick Rouse of Paton, and Mrs. Paul Erb, of Floyd, grandson, James Erb and one sister, who is still living in Czechoslovokia. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. The Rosary was said at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the home and Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m.

Monday at Roseville, conducted by. Rev. P. W. Kirchhoff.

Union Leaders Met Last Wednesday The September 12th meeting of the Union Leaders 4-H club was held at the Marble Rock School iwitih thirteen members and two leaders present. Two new members present were Judy Johnson and Mary Taylor. Officers elected for the fol- Jowing year are as follows: President Connie Grahlman, Vice- president Janice Krueger, Secretary Jane Balkenende, Treasurer Edith Shultz, Historian Margar' et Shultz, and Reporter Jolene 4-H Officers were Installed Wednesday The joint installation of boys and girls County 4-H officers was held at the Fair. Grounds at Charles City Wednesday evening. The out-going officers from Marble Rock were: Pat Heft, President and Edith Shultz, Historian.

The new officers from Marble Rock are Connie Grahlman, President; Janice Krueger, Reporter and Larry Staudt, Historian. Pat Heft was installing officer. Johnson. Committees appointed for Installation of Officers, which will be held October 2, are as follows: Food; Jolene Johnson, Linda Hillman, Margaret Shultz, Connie Grahlman, Ruth Adams and Jane Balkenende. Program; a i Krueger, Mary Taylor and Judy Johnson.

Invitation; Judy Balkenende, Janice Milton and Sandra Smith. Entertainment, Edith Shultz, Karen Schrage and Lynne Overbiy. The program and activities for the following year were discussed. Hostesses were Jolene Johnson and Janice Krueger. Reporter, Jane Balkenende Natalia Club Met With Mrs.

Keith The Natalia Club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Roy Keith with Mrs. Clyde Thieman as co-hostess. Mrs. Andrew Frascht and Mrs.

Rally Day is the time special attention is given to Christian Education in the local church school and lifts up its importance in the total life of the church.

and Mrs. Jack Parcher of Rockford arrived home Thursday afternoon from their 3,000 mile trio to Eastern Points. Some of the interesting features on the trip were the boat ride across Lake Michigan, Hhe visit to Niagara Falls, and across the border into Canada, the liysburg Battlefield, the view of President Eisenhowers farm home as seen from the battlefield about one-half mile distance (no nearer approach allowed), the several mountain ranges in that region, and the cotton fields farther south. A stop was made at Memphis, tennessee for a visit with "Ike" Hillman and family where a trip was made to the Naval Air Base. Another stop enroute home was made at Howards Ridge, Miss- 'buri for a ghort visit with, Ike Chamberlain.
