Gertrude united with the Salem M. E. church Easter Sunday, 1911, and gave her soul to the Divine Master that she might be of better service to Him and live a purer life for her friends. She was a cheerful worker in the Sunday school and a loyal member to her class in her robust Health, which enabled her to meet all obstacles and be present always, with a smile and a word of cheer to all. She was a junior member of the Walton high school, and her grades and character remain as tokens of high esteem to her school friends.

To Gertrude, Death with its grim sickle was as crossing the stream to the garden beyond; seeming to see her path, and spoke many times of the crossing that she was drawing near. The remaining members of the family, Grace, Robert, Mother, Father and devoted Uncle Perry, with relatives and a great many friends sadly mourn their loss. I know there are no errors In the great Eternal plan; And all things work together For the final good of man; And I know when my soul speeds onward, In its grand Eternal quest, I shall say as I look back earthward, Whatever is--is best. Serious decrease in hog during 1917 has brought forth a demand that farmers and pig club members materially increase their production to meet the needs of our soldiers and our allies for pork and. pork products.

Proper housing will. be an important factor in such lit creased production, as it will reduce the amount of feed consumed and will prevent losses from exposure, cially with the early spring litters'. ID some sections of the country the farm-, era build larger and more expensive houses than are necessary, but in great many places too little attention is given to proper houses for When sailors speak of fathoms they. do not always mean the sime thing: On board f. man-of-war a fathom means six feet, on board a merchant! man feet, and on board a Oshiox vessel 5 feet.
