Two months after the Korean War began, they landed in Pusan, then headed out to the battlefields with their respective units. Vincent writes: "This was my first taste of combat, a chaotic night firefight. We were all pretty scared, your nerves work on you. Soon, we was ordered to cease fire and pull back.

What followed was a long, panicky retreat in total darkness, drawing heavy North Korean shelling and small arms fire the whole way. "It is a family movie period and we are very happy to say in the last two rating books, 'Popcorn' is the No. 1 show for women in northeast Wisconsin with a 3 rating and a 15 share," Ellis said. But his duties extend far beyond that. He is involved in setting up live remote broadcasts from car dealerships, department stores and other businesses. "He is the shining star at UPN 32," said Kay Holbrook, sales manager at WACY who has known Ellis for 18 years.

21). Three readers informed me via e-mail that I had missed a big one: Kathy Kinney, who plays Mimi on "The Drew Carey Show." She is a Stevens Point native who also has a recurring role in "The Newhart Show." She's been on "Carey" since the beginning, as the woman with the outlandish make-up and attire and sassy mouth. "I went to high school with VntUx, r- ivuuij nuumy, saiu Jim caguil, business manager at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley in Menasha. "Kathy was very involved with theatre productions, not as an actress, but in the technical aspects. She took a number of us under her tutelage during our sophomore year and for two years taught us all about set 'design and construction, the perils of props and how to make fun of the actors." After attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Kinney went on to act in New York before moving to the West Coast.

Another reader wrote: "The real puzzler, though, is how could you, an Afro-American, miss Oprah Winfrey? She lived in Milwaukee before moving down south to be with her dad." 1 didn't forget Oprah. I didn't list her for the same reasons that I didn't list CNN legal correspondent Greta Van Susteren, Hollywood actor and Appleton native Willem Dafoe, former late- Often simple and very personal, the words remain treasures for family members, who still read them years later. They are diaries and letters written from the battlefields of the world wars, Korea and Vietnam. Decided to get to American doctor After most miserable trip I ever had, arrived at Dunkirk, went straight to bed and sent for doctor who) said I had kidney stone, a very bad cold and rheumatism combined. "The pain in my side was getting unbearable so he gave me some dope and put me to sleep.

This was a Merry Xmas 1 don't think so. I wished 14 million times my little wife was here. In fact, leant think of anything else."
