The double ring ceremony, performed by Father Vance Clark was held at the Epworth Manor Chapel on June 11, 2005 at 3 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Mary M. Hite and the late Fred Hite.

The groom is the son of the late Chester L. and Carrie L. (Little) Wertz. Pipe organ and piano music was provided by a friend of the couple, Mrs. Ann Dillon.

The bride wore an ivory jacquard suit with poof sleeves, pearl buttons and a peplum. Her headpiece, made by Cathy Ramsey, was a double layer, shoulder length veil with ivory sweetheart roses and pearl sprays. Her flowers were mound nosegay made with pink and white spring flowers, hand-tied'with lace ribbon. The matron of honor was Mrs. Jackie Wertz of Tyrone, the groom's daughter-in-law.

She wore a Wedgwood blue knee-length dress with cap sleeves, front buttons and tie-belt. Her flowers were mound nosegay made from blue and white spring flowers, hand-tied with lace ribbon. The best man was Gary DeWitt Wertz. A reception was held at the Epworth Manor Lobby. Norma is a 1951 graduate of State College High School and Chester is a 1941 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.

The couple currently resides at Epworth Manor, 951 Washington Avenue, Tyrone, Pa. 16686. Justin W. Reamer receives Doctor of Optometry Degree ELKINS PARK, Justin W. Beamer, of Warriors Mark, recently received the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO).

Beamer graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 2001 from Messiah College. At PCO's Graduate Awards Dinner, Beamer received the Beta Sigma Kappa Award, the Clinical Citation Award and the Alumni Association Award. He is married to Stephanie Beamer and his parents are Sharon Claar and William Beamer (deceased). Beamer plans to work in Lewistown.

Founded in 1919, the mission of PCO is to graduate Doctors of Optometry and Audiology, as well as offer other educational, research, and patient care programs responsive to the health care needs of the public. Located in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, PCO received college accreditation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2000 to offer doctorates in audiology (Au.D). This movie tells the story of an ordinary sled dog who accomplishes an extraordinary feat by saving those he cares about while facing many different obstacles including the infamous Ididerod Dog Sled Race in Alaska. Concert begins at 7 p.m.

Vacation Bible School The God's Missionary Church of Alexandria will sponsor Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24, each evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The theme will be "Good News Clues Searching for new life in Jesus." Each session will include exciting Bible stories, creative crafts, joyful songs and tasty snacks. The church is located on route 22 near Martin's Service Center. Chicken house The Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company will hold a chicken barbecue and open house on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The menu includes chicken, DelGrosso's potato salad, baked beans and a roll. Individuals will be able to tour the station, see the equipment and AMED will be available for blood pressure screenings. Patriotic Concert On July 3 at 7 p.m. a patriotic concert will be held at Fort Roberdeau. Tap your feet at a stirring concert by the 28th Division Band. The concert is titled "A Salute to America" and is free of charge. Star Spangled picnic A star spangled picnic will be held at Fort Roberdeau on July 4 from 11 a.m.

Frolic at the Fort Frolic at the Fort will be held July 9 at 5 p.m. at Fort Roberdeau. There will be an 18th century supper and English country dancing. Sip, stroll, dine and dance in the best manner of 1778. Revolutionary War Days On July 9 and 10 Revolutionary War Days will be held at Fort Roberdeau from 11 a.m.

FRA Annual Picnic The Fort Roberdeau Association's Annual Picnic will be held on August 18 at 6 p.m.

The Hollidaysburg Alumni Community Band will provide a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Fun Friday July 22, EBT Praise Team as a Fun Friday at City Hotel Park in downtown Tyrone. Begins at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, Fun Friday concerts will be held in Joybeans Coffee Shop on 10th Street. Family Movie at Dusk July 22: Family Movie at Dusk.

Movies begin at dusk in lot next to Joybeans on 10th Street. In the event of rain, movies will be held in the Tyrone Community Players building on Logan Avenue. Young Patriots On July 22 at Fort Roberdeau Historic Site, kids ages 8-11 can spend a 1778-style day in costume as a colonial child, making the stew, guarding the fort, playing 18th century games, going on a spying expedition and making a craft. The time is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

There is a cost. Youth triathlon coming to Tyrone On July 23 beginning at 8 a.m., Albemarle will be sponsoring the first annual youth triathlon at the Tyrone Area High School. The race is age group specific and is open to ages eight to 14. The distances will be as follows: eight and under boys and girls will complete a 25 yard swim, a mile bike and a mile run. Nine and 10-year-old boys and girls will complete a 50 yard swim, a one mile bike and a mile run.

Eleven and 12-year-old boys and girls will complete a 100 yard swim a two mile bike and a one mile run. Thirteen and 14-year-old boys and girls will complete a 150 yard swim a three mile bike and a 1.5 mile run. All participants will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and finishers medal along with a goodie bag. Awards will be given to the top three boys and girls in each age group. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tyrone Area Swim Team and the American Cancer Society.
