CYMBALIST, Leonard D. LEONARD D. CYMBALIST, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2003in Rockledge, FL. He had been a part time resident of Millersville, MD and Melbourne, FL since 1990 after retiring from a successful sales career as a heating engineer in New York. My.

Cymbalist distinguished himself in WWII as acareer Royal Air Force officer serving the British nation in its finest hour. He was one of those that Mr. Churchill spoke of during the dark days of the Battle of Britain, when he rallied the nation by exalting the efforts of the few who were owedso much by so many. He survived the opening battles of the war to go onto teach navigation at St. Andrews inScot- land to new cadets and replacements needed to carry the war effort.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joyce (nee Weatherbee); threeloving children, Valerie Tarrant of Copenhagen, NY, Michael Cymbalist of Millersville, MD and Peter Cymbalist of Walton, MY. A brother, David Cymbalist ofInverness, Scotland; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Cymbalist lifewill take place at a later date. Pierce two years ago from Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of St. Mark a theEvangelist Catholic Church, and formerly a member of the Church of the Annunciationin Rosedale, MD. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp during WWII in the South Pacific, served 30 years in the Baltimore County School System, and was a guidance counselor at Stemmers Run Junior High in Baltimore County. Heloved music, had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed a friendly game of poker.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, EleanoreLapinski of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughters and son-in-laws, Susan Lapinski and Michael de Courcy Hinds of Swarthmore, PA, and Paula and Dennis Loehr of Ft.
