A irood dignantly stamping their feet, say "we will not wear them There was a country-wide shudder of fright in the clothing industry when the Cornell Daily Sun published the following editorial, which achieved much notice and comment: "It is monstrous that dinner. jackets lend an air of austerity to any banquet. Can we imagine that the food would be any less delectable, that the stirring speeches would be less impressive, merely because John Blotz and his neighbor Joe Struntz each boasted nearly identical attire? Charles Hodgin, born and reared in Richmond, left this city 49 years ago. With the silver question a topic of the hour, the following poem, "dedicated to William J.

Brj'an without his knowledge or his consent," is apropos: "SIXTEEN TO ONE" We've been hearing gold and silver Through the summer and the fall. Till the people's heads is muddled, With no argiment at all. Now, I'm living on the old farm. Where I've been sence fifty-six. And I've made some observations That might help in politics.

The flowers is golden more than silver. Like yeller coin they shine. From the great big noddin' sunflower. To the little dandeline. Is the punkin blossom silver? Or the punkin pie we eat? And did you ever hear us talkin' Of the fields of silver wheat? And you jist watch the walnut groves.

And the forest trees, nigh all. As winter comes a creepin' on. How you see the gold leaves fall. But you say the moon is silver; Sure, you're only jist in fun, Fur I've read how all her splendor Wus reflected from the sun. And them clouds with silver linin.

Passin' over, one by one. As they float along the heavens. Git their luster from the sun. So I reckon gold's been standard From the time the world begun. And we don't want no "free silver That's to be "sixteen to one." FINDLAY, Ohio.
