Karch, 57, of Greenbank, Chartestown, formerly of Media, died last Tuesday in Union Hospital, Elkton, after a short illness. Mr. Karch, who was born in Indiana, was semi-retired. He attended Columbia School of Journalism and was formerly director of consumer relations and associate director of public relations for Delaware County.

Mr. Karch was also a former program director for WCAU and had been associated with Death Notices On October 7, 1977. of Ridley Park, Pa. beloved husband of the late Josephine Wiley Allen. Survived by 2 daughters.

A retired boilermaker, Mr. Lawrence had last worked at the U. Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D.C., for eight years until 1960, when he retired. Previously, he had worked at Sun Marcus Hook, and in construction in Saudi Arabia. Mr.

Lawrence was the husband of the former Ida M. Maycort, his only survivor. He had lived in Wilmington for the last seven months. Prior to that he had lived in Gibston, for 16 years. Mr." Lawrence belonged to Lucius H.

Roberts R.C. Church. Daily Times obituaries 1 Chester C. Frizelle Cleveland Frizelle, 62, of 1423 Naaman's creek Bethel, was stricken Saturday at his home and pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital, Chester. A maintenance foreman at Sun Co.

for 31 years, Mr. Frizelle had been retired since 1972. He was born in Egg Harbor, N.J., and had lived in Delaware County most of his life. He had lived at his late residence for the last 20 years. Mr.

Frizelle was the husband of the former Marie E. Gallimore, whom he married in 1936. He was a member of both the Honor and Sapphire Clubs at Sun the Bethel Township Hose Co. Chester Lodge 236, F. A.M.; Benjamin Franklin Consistory and LuLu Temple Shrine, both of Philadelphia, and Penn Forest 21, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and West End Boat Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ellen K. Davis, of Glenolden. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, 9th and Main Streets, Trainer.

Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester. Calling hours will be after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday conducted by his lodge.

Mary E. Williams Mrs. Mary Williams, 86, of 6 Stockdale Claymont, died Friday in Rutland Hospital, Rutland, as the result of injuries suffered in a car accident in Rut! and on Oct. 3. Born Mary Talley in Chester, she lived in Delaware County until 1938 when she moved to Claymont.

Mrs. Williams was married to Earle Williams who died in 1967. She was a member of Atonement Methodist Church, Claymont. Mrs. Williams is survived by one daughter, M.

Gladys Frye of Claymont; two brothers, Clarence Talley of Gwinhurst, and Albert Talley of Bradenton, four sisters, Harriet Bail of Lower Chichester, Mrs. Herman Marshall of Lower Chichester, Mrs. Victor Light of Springfield, and Mrs. Frank Hulme of Aston; one grandson and -two great- granddaughters. The funeral will be 11 a.m.

Leidy Harold B. Leidy, 78, of 45 Papermiil Lane, Newtown Square, died Oct. 3 in Bryn Mawr Hospital. Mr. Leidy, who attended high school in Sunbury, lived in Newtown Square for 20 years.

He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 42 years until his retirement in 1962. Mr. Leidy was an Army veteran of World Wars I and II. He also served in the National Guard.

He was a member of Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, Upper Darby. He was also a Master Mason with Mercer Lodge 160, Bluefield, W. a member of Mahona League Masonic Clubs, a Shriner with Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre; a life member of Westinghouse Square Club, a past commander of the American Legion Black Diamond Post 395, and a past commander of the Society of the 28th Division REF Asher Miner Post 4. Mr. Leidy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Heiges Leidy; one son, Charles F.

Leidy of Marriottsville, and one daughter, Grace M. Kerner of Square. Mr. Leidy was buried Friday in Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord. DeatK Notices WILLIAMS, Mary E.

SWEENEY William Sweeney William A. Sweeney, 71, of 520 E. 23rd Chester, formerly of 1426 Edgmont Chester, a professional city firefighter and longtime member of Goodwill Fire died Friday in Crozer- Chester Medical Center, Upland, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Chester, the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Sweeney. He had lived in Chester all his life.

He attended Chester schools. He was a 52-year member of the Goodwill Fire Co. No. 2, where he was a trustee for many years. He was a salaried truck driver-fireman for Goodwill and was one of the original members of Local 1400, International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL- CIO, when paid fire company drivers chose the union in 1970 to represent them in negotiations with the city.

Mr. Sweeney was honored for his heroism in fighting a bad fire in 1958 on the second floor of Goodwill Fire Co. that caused about $25,000 damage. He was severely burned while fighting the fire. He was also cited by the Rotary Club in 1954.

He was a member of the Order of the Eagles and St. Robert's Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Bridget (Bea) Friel; -a son, William J. of Wallingford; four daughters, Mrs. Nancy A.

McCrossan of Ridley Township, Mrs. Sarah T. Hernick of Talleyville, Mrs. Patricia C. Powelson of Wallingford and Mrs.

Eileen M. Reichert of Chadds Ford; and 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 2316 Providence Chester. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m.

Tuesday at St. Robert's Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Chester. Calling hours will be after 7 tonight at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Robert's Church. Clarance Higgins Clarance Higgins, 77, of 1042 Excelsior Drive, Upper Chichester, died Thursday in Broomall Nursing Home, Marple. Born in Goodview, Mr. Higgins had lived in Chester for most of his life.

He is survived by one son, Clarance Higgins of Philadelphia; one sister, Evelyn Owens Carr of Upper Chichester, and one grandson. The funeral will be 8 p.m. Tuesday from the Catherine B. Laws Funeral Home, 4th and Engle Chester. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chester Township.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mary M. Jackson Mrs. Mary Mullin Jackson, 92, died Saturday at her Brookhaven home.

Born in Philadelphia, she had lived with her granddaughters, Mrs. Eileen B. Huppman and Theresa M. Bonner, since 1975. Her husband of 65 years, Robert J.Jackson, died in 1975.

Also surviving are a daughter, Margaret, Philadelphia; three other grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday by her grandson, the Rev. Charles Bonner, at Our Lady of Charity Roman Catholic Church, Brookhaven. Burial will be in Old Cathedral Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Two youngsters held in holdup CHESTER Two juveniles were arrested shortly after an armed robbery at the Wilson Hotel Bar, 2nd and Wilson early Sunday. Arrested were a 15-year-old and 17-year-old youth, both residents of the city. Police said early Sunday morning patrolman Dale Mancini received a report of an armed holdup at the hotel bar. Two youths had entered the bar. One held a small handgun, which was put to a patron's head.

The robber demanded money from the patron, Robert Smith, 300 block Ward St. Oscar Johnson, 53, a bar employe, said an undetermined amount of cash'and coins were taken. Services were held Sunday for Louisa Caroline Francolini, 37 of 103 Sunset Cumberland, formerly of Secane, who died Wednesday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, after an extended illness. Born in Waynesboro, Pa she had lived in Delaware County for Helen A. Merriwell Mrs.

Helen A. Merriwell, 77, of 1000 Meadow Lane, Chester, died. Saturday in Longwood Villa Nursing Home, Bethel. 1 Born in Chester, Mrs. Merriwell had lived in Delaware County all of her life.

She had, lived at her late residence for the last 10 years. She operated a grocery store at 5th St. and Concord Chester, from 1947 to 1967, when she retired. The former Helen A. Abbott, she was was the wife of the late George E.

Merriwell who died in 1976. They had been married for 24 years. Surviving is a brother, Marshall Abbott, of Ocean City, N.J. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert Moreland Funeral Home, 9th and Main Streets, Trainer.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Aston. Calling hours will be after 7 tonight at the funeral home. John J. Hold John J.

Hold, 52, of Philadelphia, died Friday in Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, Darby, after a long illness. Mr. Hold was employed by the Union Tank Car Tinicum. Mr. Hold is survived by his wife, Pasquilina Pelusi Hold; two sons, John of Chester, and Anthony, at home; two daughters, Annie and Diana, both at home; three brothers, William, James, and Matthew; and two sisters, Helen Mclntyre of Brookhaven, and Elizabeth Ersek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, S. 64th Philadelphia. Burial will be in Mt.

Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia. Calling hours will be 7:30 to 10 tonight at King's Funeral Home, 2649 S. 64th St. many years. She was graduated from Ridley Park High School.

She moved to Cumberland 10 years ago. The former Louisa Jesson, also was graduated from Pierce Business School, Philadelphia. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Junior Women's Civic Club of Cumberland. She is survived by her husband, Robert two daughters, Marie Elizabeth and Antonette Louise, both at home; two brothers, John B. Jesson of Spring City, and Robert Jesson of Havertown; one sister, Mrs.

Eleanor Sloss of Lansdowne; and her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. John Jesson of Secane. She was buried today in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall. Contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the memorial fund of Christ Lutheran Church, LaVale, Md.

Walter L. Chandler Walter L. Chandler, 68, of 13 W. State Media, died Saturday in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland. Born in Pennsylvania, Mr.

Chandler had lived in Media for the last 30 years. He had been a marine machinist at Sun Shipbuilding Dry Dock Chester, for 26 years until his retirement in 1973. He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Bryan; one son, Walter L. Chandler of Brookhaven; and three daughters, Senga Myers of Birmingham, Patricia Whitlock of Upper Chichester, and Sharon Wagner of Oxford, Chester County. Also surviving are three sisters, Pearl Ferry of Quakertown, Agnes of Bentqn, and Delores Massimiano of Haverford; one brother, George Chandler of Quakertown; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Nelson J. Rigby Funeral Home, Baltimore Pike and- Jackson Media. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Aston.
