Nicholas P. Carabillo, 74, of New Britain, husband of the late Ruth May (Pasqu-rell) Carabillo, died Wednesday (February 24, 2010). He was born in Hartford, son of the late Nicholas P. Carabillo, Sr. and Mary (Longo) Carabillo and had lived in New Britain for over 40 years.

Prior to his retirement, Nick worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years. He was an avid Bingo Player, a dancer where he and his wife attended the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. He is survived by his sister, Joan Locascio of South Windsor, two sisters-in-law, Fran Sinkiewicz and her husband Bob of Canton and Shirley Sapita of Newington and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Julius and Louis Carabillo.

The family would like to thank Walnut Hill Care Center for all their compassionate care given Nick. The funeral will be Saturday, February 27, 2010, 10 a.m. at The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt.

Aresco, 72, of 35 Lorraine Terrace, Middle-town, died Monday at the Middlesex Hospital. She was born May 30, 1937, in Mid-dletown, daughter of the Late James and Agnes (Aresco) Bartolotta. She was a member of St. Sebastian St. Sebastian Choir, Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords and the Italian American Civic Order Ladies Auxiliary.

She loved Bocci and was an avid bowler and loved to read and do Crossword puzzles. Prior to her retirement she was The Tax Collector for the City of Middletown. She is survived by a son, David Walsh Jr. of Middletown; three daughters, Debbie Martinelli of Plain-ville, Judy Chung and her partner Juan Marcado of West Hartford and Lisa Martin and her partner Bill Scott of Middletown; her loving grandchildren, Kristofer, Kara, Ian, Leah Leslie, Jessica, Tina, Carly, Chelsea, Alyssa and Kayla; a niece, Cheryl Dascanio and her children Brian and Jason. She is predeceased by a brother Sebastian "Bart" Bartolotta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington with burial following in the family plot in St. Sebastian cemetery, Middlefield. Relatives and friends may call at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

Palmira (Calvani) Ferry, died Tuesday (February 23, 2010) at home. Born December 17, 1928, in South Glastonbury, son of the late Harry Sr.

and Lillian (Pelton) Ferry, he was a life long resident of Glastonbury. Harry worked in Quality Control for Pratt Whiney Aircraft retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Glastonbury Grange 26, the Middlesex AARP Chapter 3394 and had served in the U.S. Army during World War 2. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Ferry of New Haven; a brother, Henry Ferry of Glastonbury; eight sisters, June Fuller of West Hartford, Jean-nette Krohn of Florida, Isa-belle Meyer of Florida, Love-joy LaBella of Portland, Annie Q.

He was the son of Augusto and Virginia Carroccia. He lived in Farmington all his life until retiring to Arizona. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed by Spector Freight and Consolidated Freight for 40 years. He was a member of several gold prospecting clubs in Arizona.

He was predeceased by his son, David. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Sophie of Arizona, his daughter, Christine and her husband, Scott Tucker, of Newington, his son, Michael and his wife, Virginia Carrroccia, of Florence, VT, his son, Paul Carroccia of Farmington; his grandsons Kristopher, Brian; and his great-grandson, Colin, all of Florence, VT; his granddaughters, Karleigh and Hannah of Farmington. and former daughter-in-law, Sally Carroccia. Warm thanks to Debbie and Ernie Leschner of New Mexico for all their special help and support. A private memorial service will be held later.

CHURCHILL, Anna (Sullivan) Anna (Sullivan) Churchill, 78, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife Wallace H. Churchill, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, (February 23, 2010) at home. Born September 29, 1931, in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Michael 0. and Nellie (Joy) Sullivan, she grew up in Newington, attended the Newington Public School System, graduating from Newington High School, Class of 1949.

After Anna's marriage to Wallace, they resided in Hartford, then made Rocky Hill their home in 1962 and started their family. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed by the Travelers Insurance Co. as a Supervising Underwriter. Anna will be dearly missed and remembered by her loving family; her two sons, Glenn M. Churchill and his wife Leona of Portland, and Scott M.

Churchill of Rocky Hill; two adoring grandsons, Eric D. and Steven K. Churchill, both of Portland; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother and sister in law, Harry and Irma Sullivan; two sisters and one brother in law, Helen and Calvin Starr, and Kathleen Sullivan Christiana along with her stepmother, Mary (Hurley) Sullivan. Beebe Dennis J. Cham (Ned), 68, son of the late Arthur and Mar pagne, 62, of Schwanda Staf- Thomas Gemmell, 51, of Memorial Dr. passed away Sunday, (February 21, 2010) at HCC Bradley Memorial. He was the husband of Lesa (Hatch) Gemmell. He was born Oct.

22, 1958, in Manchester, CT, son of Allan Gemmell and the late Lucille (Lof-gren) Gemmell. He had been employed by Hospital of Central CT, New Britain and also at Mickey Finn's on the Berlin Turnpike. He was the owner of Gemmell's Landscaping and had been a hard-worker and lived by the motto "anything worth doing, is worth doing well." Besides his wife, he was the loving father of Joshua and Ryan Gemmell of Southington, and enjoyed helping them out with football. He also leaves his brothers, John Gemmell and wife, Wendy, of Berlin, and Paul Gemmell of Boston; a sister, Lorna Gemmell of Norfolk, VA; his sisters-in-law; Leah Karo and her husband, Thomas, of Tennessee, and Jeri McEntire and her fiance, David Nichols, of Lebanon. He also leaves his nieces, Chelsea and Danielle Gemmell, Laura Benoit; and nephews, Matthew Benoit, Lucas and Jacob McEntire.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday, 4-7, at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Southington.

She was born in Hartford, CT, on April 10, 1910, the daughter of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (Lanza) Biase.

She married Carmelo Fred Guardo on December 29, 1930. They lived in Hartford and East Hartford throughout there marriage. Marion moved to Windham in 2000 where she resided until her death. Her husband Carmelo predeceased her February 16, 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Anita Satriano of Mansfield Center, CT, and Dr.

Carol J. Guardo of Fountain Hills, AZ; also, two grandchildren, Anne Tucker and her husband, Thomas, of North Windham and Steven Satriano and his wife, Juliann, of Ashford, CT. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Michael Tucker and Matthew Satriano. She leaves a brother, Angelo Biase of Manchester. She was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Mix and Rose Paul; and two brothers, John and Michael Biase.

Marion was employed at Crystal Research Laboratory until her retirement. She was active in several Italian-American organizations. Throughout her life she had a special devotion to St. Anne. Friends may call at the Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside East Hartford on Friday, from a.m.

Condolences may now be offered at HYDE, Philip Jr. Philip S. Hyde, 81, of Rye, formerly of Manchester, CT, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 23, after a long illness. The son of Philip and Linnia Hyde, he was born November 21, 1928, in Bellows Falls, VT, and raised in Winchester, NH.

After completing high school, he served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Hyde then went to Keene State College, graduating with honors in secondary education. He later earned a Masters in Education from the University of Hartford. Mr.

Hyde initially taught high school math and science at Thayer High School in Winchester, NH. He accepted a mathematics teaching position at Manchester (CT) High School in 1954, where he remained for 31 years. During that time he served 15 years as Chairperson of the Mathematics Department and in 1983, was appointed the Town wide Math Coordinator for grades 6-12. A gifted athlete, Mr. Hyde played on four Keene State sports teams, including the college's first soccer team in 1948, and won 13 Varsity letters.

His coaching career began at Thayer High School. During the 1953-54 school year, Mr. Hyde coached the baseball, basketball and soccer teams to undefeated seasons; the baseball team also won the 1954 state championship. While teaching at Manchester High School, he coached track and cross country, tennis, and freshman and varsity basketball; during his tenure the basketball team qualified for five state tournaments and won three CCIL championships. He served as athletic trainer for all of the high school teams for six years.

Mr. Hyde also spent 19 years officiating soccer matches throughout central Connecticut. Tennis, however, was Mr. Hyde's athletic passion. He once commented in a newspaper article that "tennis has been the ultimate sport in my lifetime." In addition to coaching duties, he started the (Manchester) Recreation Department summer tennis program, was a founding member and first program director of the Neipsic Tennis Club, and upon retiring from teaching, became program director and teaching professional at the Manchester Racquet Club until 1996.

Mr. Hyde won a number of town and club singles and doubles tennis tournaments. In recognition of his many athletic accomplishments, Mr. Hyde was chosen as an Honorable Mention All-American in collegiate soccer, recipient of the Central Connecticut Inter-scholastic League "Merit" Award in 1984, and was inducted into the Keene State College Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Manchester (CT) Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. Mr.

Hyde was a member of Bethany Church in Greenland. In addition to sports, he loved gardening, fishing, playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. "Probably his favorite place to be was in the woods in Winchester walking from one fishing hole to the next," noted his son, Scott, who had been on many of those treks. Mr. Hyde is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Frances I.

(Volkmann) Hyde of Rye; three children, Cheryl Hyde, Philadelphia, PA, R. Scott Hyde and his wife, Melissa (Stearns) of Peterborough, NH, and Julie Hyde, Rye, NH; three grandchildren, Allegra, Connor, and Linnia; his sisters-in-law, Priscilla Jenness and Esther Woods; brother-in-law, Walter Behr-mann and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Mrs. Doris Behrmann. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, March 2, from 6-8 p.m., at the Remick Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Hampton, NH.

He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Edward P. and Sophie (Drobnica) Champagne. Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as a supervisor from Lyman Products. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Carol (Brooks) Champagne of Staf-fordville, CT; four children, Jim Champagne of Stafford-ville, CT, Stacey Walker and her husband Kevin of Maine, Dionne Silver and her husband Robert of Vernon, CT, and Shelley Donahue and her husband Ryan of East Windsor, CT; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Ciara, Rachel, Sarah, James, Justin, Alexandra, Ashley, and Lindsey; three siblings, Edward Champagne of Staffordville, CT, Wayne Champagne and his wife Cheryl of Rocky Hill, CT, and Paulette Depeau and her husband David of Virginia Beach; and two nieces.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Intro-vigne Funeral Home, 51 East Main Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday from 5-8 p.m.

The Thomas L. Neilan Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London, is assisting the family. BICKERSTAFF, Sylvia L. (Seger) Sylvia L. (Seger) Bicker-staff, 90, died peacefully on Friday (February 19, 2010) at her daughter's home in Stafford Springs.

Born on March 25, 1919 in Colchester, Sylvia was the 7th and last surviving child of Samuel and Mary (Drexler) Seger. She was predeceased by her husband Don Bickerstaff. Sylvia graduated from Bacon Academy Class of 1937 and graduated Baypath College. She worked for a number of years for the IRS in Hartford and San Francisco. She then worked for over 20 years at Mount Sinai Hospital.

She leaves two daughters: Heidi Bickerstaff and Donna Bicker-staff-McGloin and her husband Joseph and grandson Samuel McGloin, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She also leaves a most faithful and loving companion of many years Harry Bailey, a Welsh Corgi who has never left her side. Burial will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford. To sign the guestbook for Sylvia, please visit online at FLANAGAN Thomas J. Thomas J. Flanagan 92, of Waterbury died Tuesday, (February 23, 2010,) at Abbott Terrace. He was the husband of the late Helen (Lahey) Flanagan.

Tom was born in Waterbury, January 9, 1918, son of the late Thomas J. and Mary (Keily) Flanagan Sr. He was a graduate of St. Margaret's School and Crosby High School. He enlisted in the Army in February 1941 and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, when World War II started in December 1941.

He was transferred to the second evacuation hospital in Ft. De-vens, MA, and went to Ireland with them in August 1942. He subsequently served in England, Scotland and Wales before going to Belgium, France and Germany. He was discharged in September 1945. Tom graduated from The Renouard School of Embalming in 1946.

From 1946 until his retirement in 2009, due to illness, he worked for several funeral homes in the Waterbury area. In 2007, he was honored by the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association for 61 years of service. He was also a life member of the Waterbury Elks Club No. 265 BPOE and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Tom is survived by his son, Thomas and his wife, Shelley, of Bethel; his grandson, Sean of Wilmington, N.C.; his sister, Sr.

Rose Eileen Flanagan of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Hartford; and his long time friend, Helen Driscoll. Besides his parents and his wife, Tom was predeceased by three brothers, the Rev. Harold Flanagan, William Flanagan, and Charles Flanagan; two sisters, Sr. Eileen Flanagan, CND and Rosemary Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, 9 a.m. from Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Water-town, to Blessed Sacrament Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Carol Ann was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and retired from Aetna Life Insurance Co. after over 20 years of service. Celebrate Alice M. Crabtree, 86, formerly of Danielson, died Tuesday, at Life Care Center of Raynham, MA. She was born in Brooklyn, CT, June 30, 1923, daughter of the late Jesse and Gladys (Rain-ville) Carpenter. She was the wife of the late Arch L. Crab-tree.

Mrs. Crabtree was a longtime member of The Cornerstone Baptist Church in Danielson. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Crabtree of Wallingford, Barbara Simonetta of Hamden and Susan Raymond of Assonet, MA; two sisters, Mary Brumbaugh of Springvale, ME, and Jean Fortune of North Smith-field, Rl; three grandchildren, Michael Simonetta, Alyson Simonetta and Meghan Raymond.
