Before Channel 40, the closest NBC stations were in Panama City and Albany, Ga. Channel 40 should have a range of 50 to 60 miles east and west of Tallahassee and reach the Gulf of Mexico to the south and Camilla, to the north, Fouch said. Non-cable viewers may watch the new station on UHF Channel 40.

Group Cable subscribers will be able to see it on Cable 4. The addition of the new station will cause a change in channel selection for Group officials said. WJHG-TV Channel 7, the Panama City NBC affiliate now seen on Cable 4, will move to Cable 11, and the cable company will drop Atlanta's WXIA-TV, another NBC affiliate, from its offerings, said Jimmy Courson, Group W's general manager.
