Shooting Dogs Diagnosis Of Rabies Infection SPRINGFIELD, 111.. July 13-(UR)--The Illinois Public Health department warned today that a dog that has bitten someone shouldn't be shot. "Do not under any circunv stances, permit the shooting of dogs, cats or other animals which have bittetf persoift," the department's communicable disease division said. The division said "the immediate shooting o'r other destruction of biting animals too frequently dangerously delays, or prevents entirely, a diagnosis of rabies infection in the animal." The division said delay or prevention of diagnosis often forces people who have been bitten fo take the Pasteur vaccine treatment "which in itself is not without some danger."
