The' duties of the police technicians will be to assist beat officers in criminal investigation and to search for, evaluate and preserve physical evidence. Each technician's car will carry a fingerprint kit, camera, plaster for taking footprint impressions, infra-red illuminators, and other criminalogical equipment Although working' out of the Central Division, they will be dispatched to any section of the city when needed. Mrs. Grace Shields I Pope, divorced wife of the late William Kenneth Pope, was awarded a $115,786 settlement the former steamship company executive's estate. i Mrs. Pope, 52, filed suit in March for $684,360 against the estate of Pope, vice-president of Pope Talbot Lines, who died last October at his: Los Gatos home.

The bulk of his estate, valued at more than a million dollars, was willed to his widow, Mrs. Mattie Harvey Pope, 31, of Los Gatos. A divorce settlement in 1948 gave the first Mrs. Pope $100,000 in cash in lieu of community property, and $2000 a month alimony for life. She filed against the estate to collect alimony which would be I due her under life expectancy.

Will Vote on Forest Purchase The question of whether San Francisco spends $100,000. to help purchase Butano Forest for a state park today was referred to the city voters in November, Eight members of the city and county Board jof Supervisors signed a declaration of policy putting on the ballot an appro pnation of $100,000 in the 1952 53 budget The city had! been asked to join with San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties! and private groups to raise money to match state funds for purchase of the U040-acre forest lying in the other two counties. Fire Protection Contract Studied EL CERRITO, Aug. 5. El Cerrito officials are considering a possible contract with the newly formed Bay View County Fire Protection District to furnish fire protection for the small unincorporated area generally known as" "No Man's Land." The district, inquired as to the city's price for providing the protection. In addition it sought to find out what would be reauired in fire hydrants and how the cost would be allocated. The district was formed to seek a contract after El Cerrito re-, fused to continue a fee-per-fire arrangement iontra tosta county visors also announced a policy of requiring all unincorporated areas of the county to become a part of some fire district or incorporated city.

Richmond Official To Tour Germany RICHMOND, Aug. 5. City Manager Wayne Thompson today was named one of 100 Americans invited to tour the German Federal Republic and West Berlin. The 30-day, expense-paid tour was offered by the German Bundestag at Bonn, tor acquaint the 100 Americans in public, scientific and cultural life of conditions in the new Republic. The tour starts September-18.
