ARE TO APPEAR IN "HEADEDFOR EDEN" Although "Flu" Epidemic Has Affected Rehearsals, Play Will Be Given On March 28 Neenah Although the influenza epidemic has interfered to some extent with rehearsals, the Neenah High School Thespian club play, "Headed for Eden," "vill be presented to the public as planned on Tuesday evening, March 28, it was announced by Miss Ruth Chaim-son, director.

A number of members of the senior class will be given their last opportunity to appear in a high school play. Of the 10 girls in the cast, three, Betty Borenz, Germaine Richter and Thea Rausch, will be making their dramatic debuts. LaRaine Johnson and Ruth Johnson took part in a play presented by the Thespians last fall. Jeanne Lawson will return to the amateur footlights after having played a lead role in a play in her freshman Helen Arpin, Christie Jersild and Dorothy Blaney will be appearing for the last time in a school play. Constance Pfrang, who will carry one of the leading roles in the production, has appeared to advantage in several previous plays.

FINAL APPEARANCE Robert Vanderwalker, Paul Opitz and Donald Bentzen, all seniors will make their final appearance in a Thespian play. William Herziger, who capably handled roles last year, will again be seen. Donald Jape', who played first in "Shirt Sleeves," last year's production, is again included in the cast. Gregory Smith and Jack Ward, student dramatists of marked ability, have been given leading parts after scoring marked successes in last fall's Thespian production. NOTES OF NEENAH Neenah Auxiliary of James P. Hawley post of the American Legion has voted to send a local boy to the Badger Boys state youth conference at St. John's Military academy, Delafield, next June 17-24. The purpose of the conference is to educate youth in the privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship.

About 600 boys from throughout the state are expected to attend the conference. A delegation of members of the auxiliary will attend the countywide meeting Thursday night in the assembly room of the Oshkosh Vocational school when a discussion of "Citizenship Day" will take place. At a general teachers meeting this evening at 7:15 o'clock in the Kimberly Junior High school auditorium, John H. APPLETON MAN WILL TALK BEFORE KNIGHTS Menasha Gustave Keller, Ap-pleton, a Knight of St. Gregory, will speak on "Practical Catholicism" at a meeting of Nicolct council Knights of Columbus in C. hall Thursday evening. A general social hour will follow the address.

Nicolet council is planning to send a large delegation to a regional meeting at Kaukauna Friday evening, March 24, when the Knights will honor their supreme knight, Martin H. Carmody, who is scheduled to speak at 9 o'clock in the evening. The first degree will be conferred upon candidates from 27 councils, including a number from Nicolet council. Mrs. Carl Meier was chairman for the evening. Cards furnished entertainment during the social session following the regular monthly meeting of the Alma Mater society of St. John's parish in the parish hall. Prizes in sheephead were won by Mrs.

Mary Kohanski, Mrs. John Zielinski and the Rev. S. A. Elbert, and in rummy by Mrs.

Ben Konctzke, Mrs. Edward Konetzke and Mrs. Stanley Kozlowski. The fourth and final meeting of the Cub training course in St. Mary's parish will take place this evening.

One of the features of the evening will be an exhibition by the Cubs of the handicraft they have made for the rally April 1. This evening's meeting will get underway at 7 o'clock and js for both parents and Cubs. NEENAH HIGH BOXERS TO MEET ST. MARY'S BOYS FRIDAY NIGHT Menasha Victorious over Kau-kauna High school in their first match of the season, Neenah High school boxers are coming here Friday "evening for a contest with St. Mary's High school boxing squad in St.

Mary's gymnasium. The first contest is scheduled for 8:15 o'clock. St. Mary's High has six veterans from last year's squad, including Bob Rieschl, 162 pounds; Ken Schmalz, 156 pounds; Edward Mottl, 132 pounds; Harold Garri-gan, 124 pounds; Vern Coopman, 116 pounds; and Don Cheslock, 100 pounds. New boys who will probably see action include Al Kolasinski, 92 pounds; Charles Schaller, 108 pounds; Jim Bretthauer, 110 pounds; Jerome Lingnofski, 140 pounds; and J.

Monarski, 140 pounds. Other boys who have been working out but lack experience to enter the first bout are: Ray Pozolinski, Norbert Bayer, Gene Hoolihan, Joe St. Peter, Harold Zimmer and George Kronschna-bel, all first year contestants. A three-pound overweight or underweight Is allowed in each class. In the heavyweight class anything goes over 170 pounds.

KIMBERLY, MENASHA PASTORS TO PREACH Neenah The Rev. W. Wich-mann of Kimberly will preach at the English Lenten service tonight and the Rsv.

Paul Eergmann of Menasha at the German service Thursday night at Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Mr. Wichmann's subject will be "The Men Preparing the Cross." The Rev. Mr.

Wichmann will also preach at next week's Lenten services at the local church. Holy communion will be distributed at the 10:30 a. m. English service next Sunday, it was announced by the Rev. E.

C. Reim. The Rev. Samuel H. Roth will discuss "At the Mercy of Hardened Men" at the Lenten service 7:30 o'clock tonight at St Paul's English Lutheran church, A Lenten service will be held at 7:30 o'clock this evening at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev.

V. Luther. mm DIES MR LOSS ILLNESS Menasha Mrs. Michael De-Eroux, 64, passed away Tuesday at her home at 344 Eighth street. Death resulted after an illness of live weeks.

Mrs. DeBroux was born May 3, 1874, in Pine River, and lived at Post Lake and Flox before coming to Menasha six years ago. She was a gold star mother. Survivors are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Buss, Mrs.

Dan Holts, Mrs. Albert 'Emnip. all of Menasha, and Mrs. Earl Bisson-nette, Rhinelnnder; two sons, Ray and Ben DoBroux, of Menasha; three brothers, John Johnson, Milton Junction; Andrew Johnson, Relgra.iite, and Fred Johnson, Fine River; two sisters, Mrs. Stena Jensen, Chippewa Falls, and Mrs.

Mary Jensen, Pine River, and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Laemmrich funeral home, and at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr.

to 1 nbc-weaf FATHER OF ACTRESS, MISS LAWSON, DIES Indianapolis Elmer Short-ridge, 58, of Indianapolis, father of Priscilla Lawson (Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer) movie actress, died in a hospital yesterday after a week's illness. He was a retired Pennsylvania railroad yard foreman. He was born in St. Paul, and attended Purdue university engineering school. His wife died last May.

Starting tomorrow, those who have not procured a license and equipped their wheels in accordance with the measure will face arrest and prosecution, Chief of Police C. H.

Watts announced. Since the ordinance took effect recently, more than 400 bicycles have been licensed, after inspec tion by police to see that they were equipped with front light ar.d rear light or reflector. There are some bicycle owners, police stated, who have not as yet paid the 25 cent license fee. END ICE HARVEST MenaAha Menasha's sunrjlv of ice for consumption during the ensuing year was assured today when the Menasha Ice and Fuel Company completed the annual ice harvest on Lake Winnebago. COUNCIL IS EXPECTED TO APPROVE CHANGES IN PLANS FOR POOL Neenah The common council at its midmonth meeting Saturday night is expected to approve changes in the plans for the municipal swimming pool authorized by its committee on public improvements. The principal change in the plans is for enlarging of the recreation room of the pool building. The committee announced Tuesday that it had fixed an assessment of $1 a foot for installation of sewer laterals on Lorraine avenue and Jewell and Irene streets and had awarded a drain layer's license to Robert Ulrich. OLD COIN OWNED BY MENASHA MAN Menasha A silver coin 121 years old is a prized possession of Henry Kohler, 305 Third street.

The coin, a 25-cent piece, was is sued in the year 1818 and is still in an excellent state of preservation, with all of its marks of coinage little affected and indication that it has not been extensively circulated. TAKES OUT PAPERS Neenah Nomination papers were being circulated today for Daniel E. Driscoll, 664 Oak street, for alderman in the First ward. His entrance resulted in a three-way contest for the council seat to be relinquished by Alderman John Kunschke, who is not seeking reelection. Other candidates are Harvey G.

FORMER NEENAH MAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA Neenah George Jones, brother of Edgar Jones, East Wisconsin avenue, died Monday at the age of 37 years at Los Angeles, according to information received here. The deceased was born in Neenah and lived here until about six years ago when he went to the west.
