The Desert Sun B2 Friday, June 23, 2000 For the record OBITUARIES TODAY IN HOT 175th day of the year There are 191 days left In the year Louis Cessor, 90 Florence Carbonneau Daisy Heimann, 80 Jane Bell, 68 Jane Olson Bell, 68, of Palm Desert died June 19, 2000, in Daisy Evelyn Heimann, 80, of Palm Springs and Ardmore, died June 19, 2000, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. She was bom May 16, 1920, to John and Maude Hargrove Mikaelson in El Campo, Texas. She married Chester E. Heimann in 1941, in Houston, Texas. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Mizell Senior Center. Survivors include her husband, Chester of Palm Springs and Ardmore, a daughter, Sandra Bamett of Pacific Palisades; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Alexander of Ardmore, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City. Florence S. Carbonneau, 92, died June 4, 2000, in Palm Springs.

She was bom Feb. 22, 1908, in Canada. She owned Florence's Drapery Studio in Palm Desert which she operated with her sister, Gertrude Gaiser, for many years. Survivors include her sister, Mireille Robinson of Rancho Pa-los Verdcs; and a brother, John Carbonneau of Lakeville, Conn. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude Gaiser, who died in May.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wiefels and Son Funeral Directors in Palm Springs. The family suggests a Mass be said or donations be made to a charity of choice. Louis M. Cessor, 90, of Thousand Palms, died June 19, 2000, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. He was born Sept.

24, 1909, to John and Mary Malnaric Cessor in Denver, Colo. He married Alma Harding on Dec. 3, 1938, in Denver, Colo. He was a fireman with the Burlington Railroad until 1938, then worked in sales for Western Farms Dairy in Inglewood until retiring in 1972. He lived in Julian before moving to Thousand Palms in 1991.

He belonged to the Western Slavonic Association in Denver, Colo. Survivors include his wife, Alma of Thousand Palms; two nephews; and three nieces. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Telcphase Society in Garden Grove. Kenneth Strand, 43 Kenneth Braden Strand, 43, of Cathedral City, died June 17, 2000, at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

He was bom March 13, 1957, Gertrude Gaiser, 88 Chester Becker, 80 Ruth Littman, 89 Ruth "Bobbi" Littman, 89, of Palm Desert, died June 20, 2000, it home. She was bom Dec. 13, 1910, to Joseph and Marsha Astor Gill, in Bialystok, Russia. She married Sidney Littman on June 11,1933, in New York, NY. She was a clerk for Chase Manhattan Bank for six yean.

Survivors include two daughters, Madeline Scott of Palm Desert, Dolores Rainer of Ft. Myers, five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., with a service at 1 1 i.m. today, at Palm Springs Mortuary, Ramon Chapel, in Cathedral City. Burial will be in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.

Virginia Hernandez Virginia Hernandez, 44, of Thousand Palms, died June 15, 2000. She was bom April 25, 1956, to Felix and Dclfina Banda Calzada, in Mexico City, Mexico. She married Timoteo Hernandez in Mexico City. She was a housekeeper at Red Roof Inn, for four years. Survivors include her husband, Timoteo; three sons, Luis, Stephan and Rafael all of Thousand Palms; five daughters, Laura, Marisela, Flor, Gabriela, Magnolia all of Thousand Palms; and her parents, Felix and Delfina Calzada of Mexico City.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. today, at Chapel of the Palms Funeral Home in Coachella. Burial will be in Mexico Rancho Mirage. She was bom Feb.

18, 1932, to Charles F. and Vera Louise Rezarch Olson in Chicago. She was a marketing secretary for McDonnell Douglas for 35 years. Survivors include a son, Paul of Palm Desert; a brother, Paul Tasker of Topanga Canyon; two sisters, Annie Allcock of Hemet and Louise Riggen of Santa Monica; her mother, Vera Tasker of Ventura; and two grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City.

Sacha Martin, 56 Sacha Frances Martin, 56, of Palm Springs died June 10, 2000, at home. She was bom Oct. 24, 1943, to Sender and Yvette Merien Podol-sky in Brooklyn, N.Y. She managed apartments. She is survived by her daughter, Tami Danielle Darling of La Quinta; her sister, Lily Rath of Palm Springs; and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City. Arrangements are under the direction of Wiefels and Son Funeral Directors in Palm Springs. The family suggests donations to the Orphan Pet Oasis, P.O. Box, "98, No. Palm Springs, CA 92258.

Jeffrey Turtle, 54 Jeffrey Tuttle, 54, of Palm Desert, died June 20, 2000 in Palm Desert. He was bom June 18, 1946 to Thomas L. and Katherine M. Rose Tuttle in Los Angeles. He was an English teacher with the San Francisco Unified School District for three years.

Survivors include his father, Thomas of Port Hueneme and a sister, Kathleen M. Bcuster of Rancho Mirage. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine in 1991. Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City. The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 74-140 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260.

He was bom Nov. 3, 1919, to Clarence and May Stoctham Becker in Los Angeles. He married Althca Young. He was a lumberman with Inland Lumber Company for over 50 years. He served in the U.S.

Army for six years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife. Althca Young Becker of Los Angeles; a daughter, Debra Coman of Sky Valley, and two grandchildren. Burial was in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs. Ernest Pasty, 80 Ernest Frank Pasty, 80, a 50-year resident of Palm Desert, died June 18, 2000 in Palm Desert. He was bom Oct. 10, 1919, to Alex and Victoria Tchoma in Newark, Ohio. He was a sign salesman in the Coachella Valley for 20 yean.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Houston of Escondido; a son, John Haven of Reno, three grandchildren; and a sister, Vicky Ross of El Toro. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Mortuary in Desert Hot Springs.

Purves in Dade City, Fla. She married R.E. "Jake" Jacob-sen on June 9, 1947, in Los Angeles. She worked at California Mart for 30 years in gourmet industry sales and was a buyer for May Haggerty, Terry Mann and Fritzi of California. Survivors include her brother, Walt R.

Purves of Indian Wells; her fiancee, Jim Ashley of Palm Desert; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Jacobsen in 1992, a son, Ronald Morris in 1975. Burial was in Pacific View in Newport Beach. Gaiser, 88, died May 9, 2000, in Palm Springs. She worked with her sister, Florence S. Carbonneau, who owned and operated Florence's Drapery Studio in Palm Desert. Survivors include her sister, Mireille Robinson of Rancho Pa-los Verdes; and a brother, John Carbonneau of Lakeville, Conn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1955.

29, 1 9 1 5, to Lloyd and Allie Findley Parks in Oklahoma. She married Richard E. Dickman on June 2, 1956, in Detroit, Mich. She was a counseling secretary with the La Puente School District. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Palm Desert; a daughter, Linda B.

Simmons of El Reno, a son, Richard; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ray K. Bannister. A memorial service will be held in the fall. The Neptune Society was in charge of arrangements.

Lavinia Hobart, 89 Lavinia Dana Hobart, 89, of Palm Desert, died June 19, 2000, in Rancho Mirage. She was bom April 5, 191 1, to Antonio and Mona Coates Scia-rra in Indiana. She was an adjudicator for the state of California for 25 years. She is survived by a son, G. Dana of Rancho Mirage; five grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Springs Mortuary Cathedral City. Isaac Torrance, 86 Isaac Newton Torrance, 86, a 25-year resident of Desert Hot Springs, died June 20, 2000, at home. He was bom Aug. 25, 1913, to George Oliver and Suzie White Torrance. He was a dispatcher for Shell Oil Co.

for 30 years. Survivors include a son, John of Laguna Niguel; a daughter, Susan of Whittier; and two grandchildren. Charles Hughes, 81 Charles Major Hughes, 81, of Indian Wells, died June 1 3, 2000, at Vencore Hospital in Ontario.

He was born Aug. 31, 1918, to Arthur and Osa Copeland Hughes in Los Angeles. He married Eleanor Anderson on July 24, 1942, in Glendale. He was a lawyer in private practice for 14 years in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills; a California Deputy Attorney General for one year; judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court for nine years; and a judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court for 1 1 years. He was a member of the California Judges Association; Municipal Court Judges Association; Superior Court Judges Association; California State Bar Association; USC Law Alumni; Legion Lex; Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity; Skull Dagger; and was a director for Guide Dogs of the Desert.
