The physical test portion of the program would have been sport for a professional athlete but to men who have fought fires for years and have little or no occasion for feats of agility, but test' their strength and endurance in a more substantial and practical way, the gymnastic work was trying. At the Turner hall the men were required to lift twenty-five, thirty-five and fifty pound dumb bells as many times as they could up to ten for each of the three sizes. Sheeting fcave been served jupon the candidates on the county ticket to be present. It is generally conceded by People's party men that a decision will be reached this evening as to whether the candidates will remain on the ticket. One of these candidates said this morning that it was certain that a decision would be reached at the meeting this evening, bufwhat that decision will be could not be stated to a certainty. "It's just as the candidates wish. Some are in favor of pulling off and others are in favor of staying on.

I think the chances are ill favor of all pulling off and leaving the places vacant, but of course something may prevent. I am sure that the matter will be decided tonight." "It Is nearly a certainty that that decision will be to take all the candidates off the ticket, isn't it?" asked a Northwestern reporter. "Well, yes, I think it is," was the candidate's answer. A member of the county committee said that the committee would be governed wholly by the wish of the candidates. The resolutions adopted at the county convention seem to give the committee the power to call the men off it it so wishes.

Tho provision of the resolutions referred to reads as follows: "All nominees for office by the People's party, having ac. cepted the nomination, in no event to withdraw from the ticket except with the consent or upon the demand of the county committee."
