Dec. 29, 1 975 (ggHahaBB? Dftttflrrai Hendricks frustrates Bengals 0 DrTsss OAKLAND (AP) Ted Hendricks, who went from All-Pro to second-stringer, took some of his frustrations out on the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday. "I felt badly about not being able to play. I don't feel I've reached my potential," the linebacker said in the Oakland locker room after the Raiders' 31-28 victory in the first round of the National Football League playoffs. "But you don't have any time to think about your frustrations out there," he added.

The frustrations on the field were experienced mostly by Cincinnati quarterback Ken Anderson as Hendricks Oakland's fourth linebacker playing up front most of the game sacked him four times and also partially blocked a Cincinnati punt. Hendricks, an All-Pro with Green Bay last season, became a free agent and signed with Oakland this year but was unable to break into the starting linebup. The Raiders went with an extra linebacker and just three defensive linemen after losing end Tony Cline with an injury a week earlier. Hendricks, joining the pass rush on almost all plays, forced Anderson to shelve his longpassing plans for much of the game. Oakland quarterback Ken Stabler, working without one of his favorite receivers, Fred Biletnikoff, also threw short more than normal.

Tight end Bob Moore led all receivers with six catches including one for his first touchdown of the year. "We were taking things they were giving us, not trying to force it up top," Moore said. "That's where my game comes in. I don't have the speed of Cliff Branch. They played off and gave us the short stuff." Stabler said, "Of course, I'd like to throw a 60-yard touchdown pass every play, but they don't give up cheap touchdowns.

They make you work." As for next Sunday's rematch with the Pttsburgh Steelers, who beat the Raiders in last year's American Conference title game, the Raiders' quarterback said, "They've picked our pocket a few times, cost us money. We owe 'em." Some other Raiders shyed away from any talk of revenge. "You never go into a game thinking revenge," said guard Gene Upshaw. "Then when things don't go right, you start looking around for answers. You've just got to execute." "It's not a matter of revenge," said Moore.

"It's just a matter of one team going to the Super Bowl, us or Pittsburgh." Oakland holds on 31-28 lc Lj Branch. So Stabler threw short. His touchdowns covered nine yards to Mike Siani, eight to Bob Moore, and two to Dave Casper. It was the first score of the year for both Siani and Moore. Stan Fritts and Lenvil Elliott ran for Bengals' touchdowns, and Banaszak got Oakland's other TD.

(Continued from Page 18) The Bengals then forced the Raiders to punt for the first time, and Anderson came right back, finding a leaping Isaac Curtis for a 14-yard score with 5:44 left. Three plays later, Pete Banaszak fumbled a handoff and Cincinnati's Ron Carpenter recovered on the Oakland 37. But linebacker Ted Hendricks sacked Anderson for the fourth time in the game and the Bengals failed to move. They lost their last chance with 50 seconds left when Chris Devlin narrowly missed blocking Ray Guy's punt and crashed into Guy, giving the Raiders the first down they needed to run out the clock. The Bengals designed their defense to shut off the long bombs to Cliff Reg.7995-8995 Redmen face Indiana "Because we're on probation, the All-College tourney is a very big thing for us," said Centenary Coach Larry Little, whose team is in the middle of a possible six-year probation period.

Unconvinced Joiner Bengals: We should have won OAKLAND (AP) The Cincinnati Bengals were three-point losers to Oakland Sunday but Charlie Joiner, for one, wasn't convinced.

"I don't think they're better," the veteran wide receiver said after the 31-28 National Football League playoff defeat. "We should have won the ball game. We just ran out of time." It was the third trip to the playoffs for Coach Paul Brown's Bengals, founded only eight seasons ago. Cincinnati also suffered first-round defeats the first two times, but the scores weren't nearly as close. "We finally got our passing game going in the second half," said quarterback Ken Anderson, who threw two touchdown passes after the Raiders build a 31-14 lead in the last quarter.

"We just came up a little short." A few inches, the distance by which Oakland tight end Bob Moore passed the first-down marker after catching a pass in the final minutes could have meant the difference. "Our kids got very riled up over that," said 67-year-old Brown, whose players protested that Moore stepped out of bounds before gaining the necessary yardage. DALLAS (AP) A cheering crowd estimated at 5,000 to 6,000 people greeted the victorious Dallas Cowboys upon their return Sunday night from Minnesota where they defeated the Vikings in a National Football League playoff game. The crowd met the Cowboys at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. The fans created a traffic jam at the airport, forcing airline officials to delay some departing flights, officials said. "I don't think the people seemed to mind considering the game the Cowboys played," said an airport police officer.
