The loser gets in this climactic match of a 20-game a tour. Laver defeated Arthur Ashe and Rosewell thrashed Tom Older in Sunday's semi-finals in Houston. The 12 noon pairing at Memorial Auditorium boiled down to the power of left- handed Laver, 33 against the finesse of Rosewall, 37.

RosewaH said he hoped to jump quickly ahead of Laver in the best three-of-five set match because "I imagine if Vv-e got into an extra long match he would have the advantage. Physically. Rod is very strong and doesn't seem to ever get tired." J.
