Democrat Thomas says he won't campaign for Republican Nixon. Thomas has been on the skids with the Florida Democratic party for some time and there have been constant rumors that he was planning to bolt the party. Not so. replies the Jupiter Democrat, even though he readily asserts that the views expressed by South Dakota Sen. George S.

McGovern. frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, "and other liberals among the national Democrats" are repugnant to his personal philosophy of "fiscal conservatism." Thomas' views found him siding with the Republican minority in the Senate during the past two sessions as much as with the Democratic majority which elected him to the president's post. "Jerry's actually a Republican already, but he just doesn't know it yet." said Sen. Richard Deeb of St. Petersburg, a Republican floor leader, "Ah, that's not true either.

He does know it." Thomas said that even though he's sitting out the Democratic convention better things to he plans to help local and state Democrats get reelected that is, conservative ones. "I've made them a standing offer," he said. I'll either speak for them or against them whichever helps them the most." MIAMI BEACH Police Chief Rocky Pomerance. who's been coordinating security for the Democratic convention, says he's had a lot of contact with the news media lately but one call was especially welcome.
