Mrs. Chan was a Past-Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in the chapter in Los Angeles, where she retired as an escrow officer. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Jones of Aha Loma, son, Ken Shepardson, of Jackson; stepdaughter, Dianna Hawkins of Mexia, and great-granddaughter, Desiree Natasha Poturny of Los Angeles, Calif.

Pauline Sherman Reid Kelvin McDonald, 39, of Magee died December 25, 20X) I He was born July 2, 1962 in Magee to the late Robert McDonald and Joan McNair McDonald. He attended Magee Public Schools. He was a member of Magee Church of God in Christ and later joined Calvary Baptist Church. He was attending Region 8 MH-MRC (New Site), Mendenhall Industries. Survivors are his mother, Joan Myrtle Berry, 79, a retired factory worker, of Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee died at Magee General Hospital on January 3, 2002.

She was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Berry were conducted January 5 in the chapel of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall. Interment was in Harrisville Cemetery. She is survived by two grandchildren, Ty Yates and Pam Yates; two great-grandchildren, Coddy Yates and Sylvia Yates; two brothers, William Floyd Sowell Jr.

of Biloxi and James Layfette Sowell of and three sisters, Verneta Smith of Magee, Virginia Wilkes of Nicevile, Fla. and Bobbie Nell Hollaway of Calif. Alvin Eugene Coleman Alvin Eugene Coleman, 77, a retired mechanic with International Harvester died at his Mendenhall residence on January 1, 2002. Mr. Coleman was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mendenhall and a World War II veteran of the U.

S. Army. He was also a Mason at Pinola Lodge. Services were held January 4 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Louise May Coleman; daughters, Rebecca Cockem and husband Tom of Brookhaven and Hilda Mae Coleman of Mendenhall; a brother, Harold Coleman of Gulfport; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Earnest Coleman Pauline Sherman Reid, 73, a homemaker, of Florence died of lung cancer on January 2, 2002 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Services were held January 4 in the chapel at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Reid was bom November 22, 1928 in New Hebron to Kirby and Lois Sherman. She attended school in New Hebron, then married and became a devoted mother of three children.

She is survived by her husband, Floid Reid of Florence; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Polly Reid of Atlanta, Tim and Lynn Reid of Clinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Lewis Todd of Brandon; grandchildren, Bondee Bower, DeAnn Wright, Heather Reid, Hala Worsham, Leigh Ann Reid, and Jimmy Reid; greatgrandchildren, Brant and Hunter Bower, Julia and Anna Wright, and Samantha Worsham; a brother, Jerald Sherman of Clinton; in-laws, Myra and Virgle Westmoreland of Shivers; and many other family members and friends. McDonald of Aurora, brothers, Wallace McDonald and Jeff McDonald of Magee; sisters, Jacqueline (Jimmy) Huddleston of Magee, Vanessa McDonald of Aurora, 111., Lisa (Ive) McDonald of Collins and Tina McDonald of Florida; special father, Willie Carl McDonald of Magee; uncles, Joe Nathan (Mary) McNair of Chicago, III. and John L. (Minnie) McNair of Prentiss; aunts, Mary (Farish) Jennings of Glenwood, III. and Vera Johnson of Chicago, great aunts, Media Mclnnis, Mary Slater, Helen Young, Nellie Floyd, Dollie Floyd and Plumie Floyd; special friend, Mealy Davis of Maryland; nephews, Anthony, Willie, Mark, Robert, Dominik and Marcus; nieces, Felicia, Vickie, Kevin, Keshia, DaJuan, Baby Anterrio, Deshawn; and many cousins and friends.

William Clyde Noland Sr. Jo Hennington Shivers Earnest Coleman of Simpson County passed away recently. He was born April 1 1921 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joell Coleman.

He attended New Hymn Baptist Church in Union in his earlier years. He moved to Saint Louis, where he lived until his health failed. Later, he returned to live in Pinola. He is survived by his daughter, Hazel C. Nelson of Pinola; a sister, Rosie Porter of D'Lo; grandchildren, Patrick Nelson, Vivian Walker, Audry Nelson, Dwight Nelson, Teresa Jackson, Michael Nelson William Clyde "BillPops" Noland, 68, of Magee died of heart failure at Magee General Hospital on December 29, 2001.

Services were held December 31 at Grace Baptist Church in Mendenhall. Burial followed at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Terry Runnells and Rev. Jerry Doggett officiated. Ott and Lee Funeral Home handled arranagements.

Pallbearers were Larry Higgins, Bruce Gridley, Rocky Odom, Ricky Smith, Johnny Odom and Ricky May. Mr. Nolan was a native of Carroll County and had lived in Magee for many years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janie "Polly" Noland of Magee; two daughters, Mary Higgins of Magee and Christie Mims of Blackhawk; one son, William Clyde "Bubba" Noland of Mendenhall; grandchildren.

Tiffany and Albert Noland of Mendenhall and Albert Wesley Noland and one great-grandchild. Mattie Mae Gardner Patterson Jo Frances Trapp Hennington Shivers, 87, a retired teacher, died January 1, 2002 at Simpson General Hospital. Services were held at Mendenhall United Methodist Church on January 4, with burial in Mendenhall City Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home handled arrangements. Mrs.

Shivers was bom in Nettleton on July 19, 1914 and is a native of Monroe County. After graduating in 1935 from MUW, formerly MSCW, where she was a member of the Beta Beta Beta Science Club, she moved to Mendenhall and taught fourth grade for 34 years, serving the last few years as the elementary school principal. She joined Mendenhall Methodist Church in 1935, where she was a member of the Women's Circle and the Wesley Bible Class. She enjoyed traveling, golf and playing bridge with the Magee and Mendenhall Bridge clubs. Mrs.

Shivers is survived by her husband of 29 years, R. B. Shivers; stepdaughter, Barbara Shivers Lober, and son-in-law, Bill Lober, of Galveston, nephew, Ed Bumgardner and wife Ronda; and great-nephews, Miles, Julian and Lowell Bumgardner of Winston-Salem, N.C. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 28 years, John Hennington; paretns, William L. and Lottie B.

Trapp; sister, Helen Bumgardner; and nephew, Billy Bumgardner. and Alvin Coleman; 16 greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emma Page Coleman, four brothers and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Clyde and Eula Lee Warren, and one son, Herbert Clyde Warren.
