C. Stem, cf Lewisbur: received a thorough vindication iu Court at York on Tuesday. Jle was the physician to a family named Wood. Mrs. W.

had secreted $40 under a mattress for safe keeping, but it disappeared. Mrs. W. at once jumped to the conclusion that the Doctor must have taken it, and was not s'ow to express such opinion to her neighbors. The Age says: lr 'A few days afterwards a son of tbe Woods confessed that be took the money, thus completely exonerating Dr.

Stem, -who- bad hitherto always borne a faultless reputation. The Woods, of course, were very sorry when they discovered their mistake, and were profuse in their apologies, but this did not satisfy the Doctor, who considered that hia reputation for honesty had been seriously assailed and demanded a complete vindication before a Court of Jnatice. He did not care for money damages, but his reputation was dear to him beyond price, and hence the suit. 'This is another lesson to people not to be too quick in judging others." The jury rendered a verdict of $250 and- coats of suit for plaintiff. H.i ry Jlcnnut, i i a (julp, W. T. Heed, Oct. 1V)0. 2m We are bound to do business and to that end we study the interest of those people we want to do husi- with, in doing it we gather together the best the market affords or our market can dispose of, trying of to get value at all timei.

We give the market, tho manufacturer and every other source from which we can get together an honest, durable, serviceable, right- priced stock, which we mark at a price to make it sell quick. The coat sales so far exceed anything ever heard of-from 10 to 20 every day--and that in the face of the numerous dollar excursions to Baltimoie. Because we have the stock, the correct styles, the fit, the finish, the everything of a city store except the expensive rent, expensive clerk hire, expensive furaishiugs aud expensive living, the price from the manufacturer being equal--we sell them ten to twenty per cent, cheaper because we can afford to do it and are ambitions to do a la.ge volume of business rather than become rich and die a death of business inanition. We never had less trouble to sell dress goods and trimmings than we have had this season, the same reasons apply all through the store as that given on coats EVERY PART OF STORE FULL Tlie X-iestd-ers G.
