I can well understand your inability to live in a tension-filled household where you always have to keep your guard up. My idea is for you to place an invisible fence inside your home so that you can keep the dogs separate.

Fortunately, you have an open house plan that will make installation easier: Once your immediate problem is solved, you will have time to establish better control of your dogs and see if you can gradually shift the dynamics of their relationship both with you and with each other. Snake eyes: A jeweler in New York who had numerous break-ins decided to get a large boa constrictor that he placed among the diamonds on display in the front window. He no longer has any problems, and people flock to see the snake. Nancy Anderson, now retired, boarded dogs and cats at Oak Grove Kennels for more than 20 years. During that time, she learned much by caring for these charming, puzzling creatures.

If you have a question or a story for her, write: Ask Nancy, 3940 W.W. Kelly Road, Tallahassee, 32311. to her. Then before we knew it, there was a fullblown fight over some dog biscuits. My husband picked up a heavy book and threw it at them, which stopped the skirmish temporarily.

From then on we felt uneasy, expecting that there was more to come. Two weekilater, we don't know wh.at started it, but they really tore into each other. My husband actually tried to separate them and lh the ensuing melee got a nasty pressure bite on Lis arm. We knew we had to do something and fast, so we got a professional trainer to come out. He told us that we had to follow a strict regime of establishing dominance over the dogs.

He said that if we did not do so, we should never have had Shepherds in the first place. Furthermore, he indicated if we were not willing to stick to his routine, we should think about putting the female down. If you have any ideas, please phone us. We have three German Shepherds. One is a 12-year-old female who spends most of her tide sleeping, so she is no problem. The other dogs are a 6-year-old neutered male that wa have had since he was a puppy, and a 4-year-old female that we acquired when she was 2.

She had not caused any trouble, but the people were moving and did not want to take her. 01' the three, she is the most beautiful and is everv bit as larse as our male. Our male seemed to accept her and indeed was delighted to have a dog to run around with.
