Patrick's Catholic Church. A prayer for the men and women in service WM of- fered by the Harris M. Waters, pastor of the Methodist Church. James Crump, president of the Mount Savage Veterans' Associa- tion, was master of ceremonies and introduced the speakers, first of whom was Lester Reed, Mt. Sav- age, a member of the House of Dele- gates.

Patrick's parochial school and Mount Savage public school recited the pledge to the flag. Miss Louann Garlitz placed the wreath on the monument in honor of the deceased soldiers. Colin C. Bowers, chairman of. the town council and chairman of the Red Cross drives, gave a review of current events in the community.

Over $10,000 has been collected in drives for charity and civilian pur- poses in this community since De- cember 1941. The total collected to date for the stone monument is $980.81 and the amount expended for the stone work alone is is estimated the total cost will approximate $3000 which will include the bronze plaques on which the names will be inserted. He also requested people to do- nate to the blood banks and told them that applications could be filed with Miss Coleta McNamee, Joseph Carter or himself. Mount Savage has 413 men and women in the armed forces, this being over 13 per cent or a seventh of its population. There were Tom this commuunity in World War One.

The flag at the Memorial was lowered to half staff by Mr. Crump in honor of four who have made the supreme sacrifice: George Lynch, Joseph Dunn, Eugene Dickel and John Phillips.
