Wandering away from the parental roof, at Bath, 3 year old Catharine Aldet fell into the town reservoir and was drowned. One man waa burned to death and two others injured when a tool-house on the Erie Railroad, near Greenville, was de- troyed by fire. Falling from a granary rooi, 9 year old fioyd Knavle, of Warren township, was hurried to the Chambersburg Hospital with concussion of the brain. Alfred Walters, cashier of the Millheim Bark, Centre Co who went to Scranton to hear "Billy" Sunday preach, was found dead in bed at a hotel there. lvania will take over and operate within a few months the state normal schools at California, Lock Haven and Edinboro, which are now conducted privately.

Last week m. Martin, the last surviving member of the jury that tried and convicted John Brown, at Charles Town, more than half a century ago, died in Fairfax county Va. His wife died a few days later. J. H.

Hector, 69 years old a negro lecturer known as the "Black Knight," died suddenly Wednesday night of heart trouble. He served in the civil'war and lectured on temperance thru Europe, his tour of England being under the patronage of the late Queen Victoria. A human life was lost in an early morning fire at South Bethlehem, when an oil lamp which George Jfi Gambler, agent for the Philanthropic Mutual Life Insurance took from a wali bracket exploded. Gambler, who was 39 years old, was rendered unconscious and suffocated before the firemen arrived. The wife and four children, asleep, were aroused just in time to allow them escape, jumping into a man's net from a second-story window, Mrs.
