least a month of extensive hearings. Lawyers back law letting banks buy insurance firms PIERRE (AP) A law allowing banks to buy insurance companies should be upheld, even though it sped through the Legislature in a single day, state lawyers have told the South Dakota Supreme Court. In legal documents filed recently, the state attorney general's office argues that the high court should reject a challenge by insurance and banking groups opposed to the law.
