Stonefield, 85 Oldham, SD Lillian M.

Wass, 89 Beresford, SD Richard F. Stonefield Oldham, SD Richard F. Stonefield, 85, of Oldham, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard Stonefield was born on December 31, 1921 at Oldham, SD to Walter I. and Phoebe (Becker) Stonefield.

He graduated from Oldham High School in 1939. He worked as a bank teller in Oldham from 1939 to 1942. In October of 1942 he entered the United States Army Air Force during WWII. Richard served with the 8th Air Force in England as a tail gunner on a B-24 bomber in 1944. He flew 35 missions over Europe and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Richard was discharged in April of 1945 and returned to South Dakota and began farming with his father in 1945 at Oldham. On September 26, 1948, Richard married Lucille I Hannah of Esmond and they lived on the farm at Oldham until retiring in 1983. He was involved with various farm organizations in the 1950's and 1960's. He was Chairman of the Oldham Public School Board for many years. Richard was a member of the American Legion and DAV.

He loved to travel and took many trips with his wife and children. Richard also liked fishing, bowling and playing cards. Richard is survived by his son, Richard D. Stonefield, and his wife, JoAnn of Sioux Falls, SD; and his daughter, Carol M. Stonefield and her companion, Jerry Phillippi of Carson City, NV; his brother, Walter S.

Stonefield of Oldham, SD; a brother-in-law, Wayne Hannah of De Smet, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; a son, Paul F. Stonefield; his parents; a sister, Dorothy Booen; his mother and father-in-law: several sister and brother-in-laws; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and several nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Stonefield will be 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Oldham Lutheran Church in Oldham with Pastor Becky Senner officiating. Burial will be in the Oldham City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Oldham and preceding services at the church on Thursday.

Gary L. Dickinson Sioux Falls Gary L. Dickinson, age 60, passed away on December 22, 2007. Visitation with the family present will be held at Miller West Funeral Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

on Wednesday, December 27th with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at First Assembly of God. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Dell Rapids.

McNeil, age 75, of Luverne, MN, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Hospice Cottage in Luverne.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. The memorial service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

The Joe Foss "An American Hero" Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate characteristics of an American patriot, and the Fred and Marie Christopherson Scholarship recognizes high school seniors who plan to continue their education at a college or university in South Dakota.
