-JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI, FRIDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 8, 1960 On Twentieth Century' Sunday 'Week That Shook the World 7 on Channel 13 Eric Sevareid in Paris: "People are still. turning out of the city this morning. There are three distinct groups--the soldiers who are heading east, and the Paris families who are going to Central and Western France to get away from possible bombs, and the foreigners. There was no general emotion. What there was strictly private.

Sometimes the wives kissed their men on the cheeks over and over and then broke into tears." Edward R. Murrow in London: "We describe every day here how calmly the English people are going through this crisis. How ordinary life goes on every hour in family, homes, in the streets, in public places. A neutral observer certainly gets the impression that there is nothing wrong with the people in this country. "I have heard stories that those who have much money, big cars, fine paintings, are not standing the strain any too well.

I don't know about that. But I do know that that strange individual called the 'common man' shows no symptoms of decadence or decay. They seem to have dug back into their history and come to the conclusion that Britain owes its history to the wiH to win. There is nothing more to say except good night and good luck." William L. Shirer in Berlin: "The situation tonight as seen from here is critical, but not hopeless.
